Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
We are having a full mass. It is long, but I think the ceremony is so beautiful. It is a once in a life time moment. Plus, having your friends as readers or helping give out communion make it such a memorable day.

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
I second the notion of a Mass. I had one for my May wedding and it brings everyone together and ties the day into something even more special. Not only that but the priest I had was so funny and everyone was laughing the entire Mass.

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
That's what I think, but FH does not want to 'make' everyone 'sit' there for an hour. I think an hour is nothing its our wedding day that we've, I mean I've, been planning for over a year.

We are having a mass. Both of us see this as a sacrament, so it is the right thing. Besides, it so beautiful.

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
We choose not to have a mass. Many guest on my side are not catholic and it is too long I just want to get to the reception and party!!

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
We are having the mass. Both of our families are catholic and we thought it was the proper thing to do. My Aunt and Uncle (who have become pseudo grandparents since my real ones passed away) are very religious and active in the Church, so we though it was a nice gesture. Also, FH and I both went to the grammar school connected with our parish so we thought a full mass was more appropriate.

We are having a mass, both our mothers are very religious and it means a lot to them. I also like the idea of a church mass, the ceremony is so beautiful.

We are doing ceremony only. You can still have readings done if you choose a ceremony. We will have 2. The only big difference between a mass and ceremony is the communion and offering of the gifts. So we chose the shorter route.

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
We are having a ceremony only because the cocktail hour begins at 12:30. We do not have the time for a full blown mass.

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
We didn't have a mass. We just did a ceremony. The mass is really long, and since not everyone at the wedding is Catholic, we only did a ceremony. It only took 30 min. instead of the 1-1.5 hours.

Full mass
FH's mom is a former nun and works at their church, so we were torn between Full Mass or Full Mass. If that extra 20 minutes makes her happy, than so be it.

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
I am having a mass, not just the sacrament of marriage. I think that it's important to have the sacrament as part of the mass. And if my friends and family can't 'sit' through an hour for it, then they don't have to come for any of it. It drives me batty when people skip the mass/ceremony and just go to the reception. I hope none of my friends do that (unless it's an emergency).

Re: to mass or not to mass (poll)
This is a dilemma on my part too. A decision has yet to be made. FI, although catholic would rather not even get married in church but i put my foot down. I really would like the mass not just ceremony but as many of you have heard me talk of already: we need to be a our reception place by 12:15 in order to take pics there. and our ceremony starts at 11. so for this reason, I might skip the full mass. I believe jsut the ceremony will be b/w 30- 45 minutes, right- and while the full mass will be a hour- jsut 15 or so minutes more- it might force us to lose our beautiful picture landscape!
