To Mom or not to Mom

What are you guys planning on calling your FMIL/FFIL? My sister in law calls my parents Maria and Bruce, but FH totally wants to do the Mom/Dad thing.

touchy subject ...I really do not want to offend my Mom...but yet I dont wanna hurt his ...she would loved if I called her Mom

Yeah, FH's parents are old school and would totally do the mom/dad thing, but my parents really could care less...

Right now I call them by there first name. I am sure once were married I would call them mom and dad. My sisters FH calls my mom, mom We think it's funny. He has been calling her that for so long. Even before they were engaged. But my FH and her FH both call my grandfather, grandpa.

I will be calling FH dad and step mom, dad and mom, but i will call his mom by her first name hahaha .. and he already calls my mom, mom, and im not sure what hes gonna call my dad.

FH doesn't talk to his Dad so I don't have to worry about that. I call FMIL Mrs _____ and FH calls my parents by their first names. My FMIL likes that I call her Mrs. _____ because she feels that I am showing her respect. I do it cause I WILL NEVER call her mom and I don't feel that I have a good enough relationship with her to call her by her first name.

I call my FILs by their first name.

My BIL calls my parents Mom and Dad and its weird to me- haha

thats a tough one, right now I call them Mr. and Mrs. but until they tell me other wise after we get married then thats what i will be calling them.

He calls my parents by their first names and I call his parents by their first names. I think it would be weird after the wedding to call them mom and dad... IDK... it's a tough one

Right now I don't call them anything. When they call here, they say either, 'Hi, It's Maureen,' or, 'Hi, it's Bill.' And they sign things Maureen and Bill. I want to call them mom and dad after, because I feel like it is disrespectful not to do so (just my opinion, for me).... I am going to ask them if it is okay.

FH calls my parents mom and dad now.

I've called her Joanne for the past 7 years, so I think I'll stick with that. When FH and I discuss either one of our moms, we usually just refer to them as 'mom'...does that make sense

I've thought about that! Right now I call his parents Mr & Mrs if I need to get their attention, otherwise I don't really call them anything and he's the same with my mom! lol...though I just realized they sign things at Mr & Mrs. A, as well.

I'm waiting until after the wedding to figure this out. Maybe they will say something to me about it. Honestly, I don't know how comfortable I would fell calling them Mom and Dad. Like others said, I already have one of those. Though, his mother calls her MIL 'mom,' so she might want me to do that too!

Maybe it will all happen like the episode of Everybody Loves Raymond and then I won't have to worry about it at all!!

i always called my fmil diana and i will continue with that and i think he will probably call my parents by their first names too- unless they ask him otherwise.

I think my mother would like FH to start calling her 'mom' (it was two years before he stopped calling them Mr. and Mrs.), but FH's mother passed away a few years ago and he said he just wouldn't feel comfortable calling someone else 'mom.' I know I would feel the same way.
