I've seen this go both ways but I am curious if there is a 'usual custom' about opening gifts in front of everyone at the e-party or not?? I would prefer not to because it can get time consuming but there are also some people that want you to open their gift now! now! now!

no i wouldnt do it....ettiquette says that gifts arent required at an e-party (even though im sure everyone will bring something)...so opening it in front of everyone would make someone feel bad if they did not bring a gift...

i say not...since gifts are not required there is no need to do that. plus it does take up ALOT of time

At the e-party you are not required to open gifts in front of everyone.

I wouldn't!! I HATE opening gifts in front of people. Also, I am sure 99% of your guests do not want to sit through you opening gifts.

I'm going to say don't do it.
Even if I wanted to at my e-party, I couldn't because I was too busy floating around the room and making sure everyone was having a good time. I barely ate anything!! Also, opening the gifts a tiring process. Make sure you have a good time and then worry about gifts the next day.

I didn't. I had one friend who wanted me to so at the end I opened hers with her there. She was also my and Fh's sober ride home from the afterparty soooo i didn't have much of a choice

We didn't, even though we had a casual backyard party We only got like 3 wrapped gifts and the rest were envelopes--that would have been awkward opening envelops in front of everyone.
