To Register or Not to Register

I am wondering if I should register considering that I am moving to England and already have a $*it load of stuff to bring over. It's just more volume and an added expense, plus I could not register for anything electric anyway.
My mom already got us a duvet set, and lots of things, but everyone keeps on asking me if I am registered. Fi thinks that once I go to England- in a couple of weeks time -we could register over there and then everyone could just purchase items online (which would be shipped to our house in England for free). My mom things that no one would do that because it takes away from the typical shower and opening up presents. Although may sound very selfish would rather just have a shower party with women then get tangible items that would be a hassle to ship.

What should I do? Have to do this stuff soon, as I'm leaving in less than a month!

do you know the address where you will be when you are in england? if so, i think you can request to have the items shipped there...even if it is for the shower... people can ship to that address...and maybe a small enclosure could be added to shower invites, kindly reminding the guests that you will be in england and if they could have the gifts sent there it would be helpful...maybe they can print a picture of the items they buy and 'wrap' it

Can you create an online registry with a store in England?? This way the you can register for appliances, and use your new address as the ship to address. I think if that kind of info goes out with shower invites, everyone will realize that all gifts have to be shipped.

Yeah i can register online, that is what FI wants to do, but I was wondering how people will respond to that.
