to register or not to register?

Next week FH has saturday off (his off days vary) and i was thinking of going to BBB to register... but i have heard mixed things about registering too early as stuff gets discontinued over time.. (my wedding is June 2010)..what do you girls think, for those that are registered, did they tell you they would notify you if something gets discontinued? just not sure whether i should wait a little longer.. thanks!

Why not just register. If something is discontinued..you can just take it off and put soemthing else on. Registering is fun!

We registered after we got engaged and I've only had one item get discontinued and I figured it would when I saw it in the store. I think they sent me an email when it did.

i was worried about the same thing. i put a thread on her and asked the same question. everyone said do it if it gets discontinued just add something else on it. i stalk my registey everyday so if u r like me u will see it.

ITA with these girls!!

I am going to wait because although I know where I am living after we get married, I want to scope out the apartment first before I select anything.

Our Wedding is July 2010, we registered a few weeks ago, the woman that helped us at Macy*s was very nice - she said not to register for bedding or towels until February 2010, that's when those items switch over, but other then that you are good to go :)

Enjoy!

I agree with everyone else. I'm getting married the week before you and I'm already registered.

My friend registered for casual china and that actually got discontinued. She was really update becasue she loved her china. And she had some pieces, but not all. I would be hesitant to register for place settings until closer to shower or wedding, but everything else is fair game. That is what I am going to do actually. We registered for a few things (Pots and Pans) at Williams Sonoma. And are going to Bloomingdales this weekend and crate and barrel.

Agreed. I would start out with just registering for simple common appliances and things of that sort and hold off on some of the more personal items IMO

Re: to register or not to register?

I registered 2 weeks after being engaged and im not getting married till the end of March 2011.

My friend suggested it would be best in case for the holidays or birthday's people have the option to buy off the registry. And Im still waiting to hear from mom about an egagment party.
