to resize or not to resize...

to resize or not to resize...

I need to get my ring resized. It's been big on me since I got it but I never did anything about it. I found out that with my protections plan, I could send it in, get it sized, cleaned and dipped and it would be back in my hands by Friday. Should I do it??? I'm afraid now because I'm not sure if I should wait (and get it insured) or just go for it. My ring is GIA certified but still.... any advice?????

I had to get mine resized as well. My diamond is laser engraved so we check the number when i get it back. I also made sure that they would have it the least amount of time as possible.

If you don't feel comforable giving it in, but your ring is big you can try something called a ring snuggie. I bought them off Amazon for like 5 bucks, and its a little piece of plastic that I have over my ring to make sure it doesn't slide off when i'm washing my hands or something. This is my temporary fix, once I get my wedding band we're going to soder them together and it won't slip off anymore.

Hope this helps!

I have the same dilemma but my FH and I had our jeweler apply those ball sizers thingy (not really sure what they're officially called). Anyways its a lot snug now that its the summer but I find that when its cold which is most of the year its a lot loose and uncomfortable when its constantly turning to one side.

I'm going to wait til the peak winter and see how it fits me, then I'll make a choice to make it smaller or not.

Is it more than a size up too big?

the ring is a size 7 and I'll need a 6.75 (any smaller and I won't be able to put it back on!!)

Hmm i wouldnt resize it for that small a difference. If you gain weight or your fingers swell you'll never be able to wear it. Get a guard.

Go to Gennaro Jewelers. Your ring NEVER LEAVES YOUR SITE. You watch it go from station to station. Took all of 20 minutes and about $100 to have it re-sized.

Even though FH didn't get my ring there, that's where we are going for our wedding bands. I really liked the people

I had mine sized from a 7.5 to a 6.75. It was a huge difference for me. It no longer slides around so much.
I just gave mine back to the Jared's where it was purchased. I felt totally comfortable and I don't think it was insured at the time.

ETA: It's also laser engraved with it's certification number, and we have the protection plan through them where stuff like that is free.

Mine is also laser inscribed and I trust the people I got it from (Zales). The associate there told me to get it re-sized because she's scared that it'll slide off before I even realize it...and it has! [I almost lost it on the track while coaching one day]. I can physically part with it for a week, but all hell will break loose if my ring comes back any different...

decisions decisions...
