To see each other before or not to see each other??
We are getting married November 29, 2013 @ Giorgio's in Baiting Hollow. The ceremony is at 3pm & everyone seems to have concerns about losing daylight for pictures. My photographer brought it up first of course, being a photographer myself i thought about it but it was never a question - we weren't going to spoil that first moment of seeing each other across the isle.My mom was really against it but now that she's seen the cute 'reveal' photos she thinks its ok. We met with our officiator last night to book and he also suggested we see each before hand so we can enjoy our cocktail hour and not feel rushed.
My question is - what is everyone else doing and why? lol my officiant is an 'Old Catholic Priest' & said not to think about the 'bad luck' aspect bc its bull. Its the moment that i don't want to ruin. Has anyone seen their FH before the ceremony and then felt cheated out of that moment?
Thank you in advance. I'm sick over this.

To see each other before or not to see each other??
I had the same issue (Feb wedding)! I even went as far as to buy a second dress (then I sold it for other reasons). I am not that happy about seeing each other before - but we are going to figure out a way to make it special. And I want to enjoy my cocktail hour and not miss anything because I was too busy taking posed pictures.

I don't really think there is any way around it when you get married at the RH unless you are prepared to miss your cocktail hour and in bigger bridal parties, that hour still may not be enough. I think the reveals are awesome though.

We are seeing each other a church for the first time we have a gap between church and cocktail hour for pictures. I would not want to do a revel but h pictures I have seen of it are very cute. It can still be special just the two fo you and the photographer.

I spoke to our pastor on Friday and she asked me if we will be seeing each other before the ceremony and we are still undecided. Knowing myself, I will be stressed about the timing of everything especially since we want to have sunset pictures but I wanted to also have that moment when he sees me for the first time coming down the aisle. My pastor made me think of it this way though...
If we do a reveal..it will be intimate. Just us. The first moment we see each other will be ours. I really liked the idea of that. Then when it's time to walk down the aisle, the nerves will be settled and the pressure will be released and we can enjoy the ceremony. I mean, it's not for everyone but I really liked the idea of the reveal for us.

Re: To see each other before or not to see each other??
i never really thought of it that way...making that moment our own, with just the two of us. i think i feel better about it now.also i know i'll be a crying mess so this might help with some of that through the ceremony, having seen each other before hand to ease the nerves a little.
thanks i feel so much better!

I think you will still have 'that' moment walking down the aisle. Everything will be so real then lol.

We are doing a reveal beforehand (seems like many of us are!), and I like the idea of it being our moment. You can't really see your groom's reaction when you're walking up the aisle until you're close - but with the reveal you'll see him right away when he turns around and have his reaction captured on film! We will be more stressed not seeing one another before the ceremony - so for less stress, making it to the CH, and for reveal pics - we'll be seeing each other beforehand.

We're doing a reveal as well. It's our moment to be together before the wedding. Plus we don't want to miss our cocktail hour.

For all of you who are doing a reveal and getting pictures out of the way before the ceremony so you can enjoy your cocktail hour, do you no what time you have to start getting ready by and what time you need to start taking pictures? Our ceremony is at 6:30 and the photographer want to start by 2-2:30, therefore I have to start getting hair and makeup done at 8 in the morning, thats a full 10 and a half hours before the ceremony! I somehow want to get that changed!

We will not be doing a first reveal. I always dreamed of my FH seeing me walk down the aislr for the first time with my dress. We will be doing group pictures separately before the ceremony (me with my BMs and him with the GMs). Then we will do the pictures together afterwards. We have also extended our CH to an hour and a half so that we do not miss too much of it.

We're not doing a reveal either. But we are getting married in a church and saved sometime between the church and cocktail hour. I don't think there is anything wrong with the reveal (the pictures I've seen are SO cute!) I just kind of want that unspoken 'OMG' moment and everything that comes with it. I do agree that a reveal would be helpful in calming nerves (but again, I'm silly and I want all those butterflies.)

I would have liked to stay hidden until the ceremony BUT since our wedding is in the afternoon, we are doing a revealing on camera before the wedding. We also want to do some of our photos before the ceremony so we can somewhat enjoy our cocktail hour.

I heard the same thing about the light the later it gets but that doesn't mean that you can't take beautiful pictures indoors. I've seen so many reveal moments that are just as adorable. Either way you'll have the moments I think there's an OMG the bride looks gorgous and an OMG we're getting married. Whether or not you have both as you're walking down the aisle, you'll still have both.Plus in the beginning I had a huge gap between ceremony and reception and people were against that. Guests don't like waiting.

This is exactly what I plan to do. I dont want to spoil the moment of FH seeing me walk down the aisle for the first time. I've dreamed about it forever!
ETA- sorry for crashing, didnt realize i was on the 2013 board!
