To see each other before OR not to see each other before??/

Original post by Lori-Chris2008

Ok we originally and I still want it this way do NOT want to see each other before we get married.

However, last night at our meeting with photog he gave us the option and explained how seeing each other before is beneficial in a lot of ways.

I am not willing to change my mind however FH now wants to see each other before...

SOOOOOoo does anyone have pictures of either you, your friends, family etc... seeing each other before they got married??

We saw each other before, tons of brides have on here. Best thing I ever did. If you look in my album, there's shots of the 'reveal' that my photographer set up for DH seeing me for the first time.

And TRUST ME, seeing each other before takes NOTHING away from that feeling when you see each other walking down the aisle. It's just as amazing.

i was dead set against seeing each other before hand but my photog convinced me and it was the best choice we made but thats just us. our ceremony and reception were in the same place so there was really no time in between for pics so we met 2 hrs before the ceremony at a park for pictures. even though our bridal party and some family members were there it did feel more intimate than seeing each other at the ceremony where we were surrounded by tons of people. because we got all the pics out of the way early, we enjoyed EVERY minute of our reception. we also went to our CH so we wouldnt have to greet at the reception so as soon as we got into our reception room, we went straight to partying. i got to eat every bite of my food and really enjoy myself.

i sound like an advocate for seeing each other beforehand and attending your CH lol but it was a great decision. i figure he's gonna see you for the first time at some point in the day so it doesnt really matter when. seeing each other at the park created one of my favorite moments of the day.

We are seeing eachother before..i originally was really upset about it but i have gotten better about it .

there's no time between our ceremony and or reception to do it unless we miss our cocktail hour ..and to be honest i really dont wanna miss that

everyone that has seen eachother before says its great!

after going to a wedding last weekend i kind of wish we werent doing pix before, but we are getting married at our hall and we are also signing the ketubah before so we see eachother before the ceremony anyway

We are not doing before. Our ceremony starts at 3 (not a full mass) and the CH starts at 5 and we will be at it. We decided not to worry about taking pics someplace else and only have them taken at the church and at the RH.

I originally thought I was dead set on this too but that would mean I would have only one hour for pics and since my ceremony is at 7pm in November, I wouldnt have daylight. It is REALLY important to me to have gorgeous pics and my photographer is setting up a reveal too and i have no doubt it will be just as special if not more so!

Will you have any daylight in October for pics? Isn't that cutting it close? I would definitely do the pics before at a special location. JMHO

I am seeing FH before the ceremony. I just makes sense. We are getting married at the RH and we would have no time after. Not to mention that our ceremony starts at 8, so there would be no outside pictures of us if we didn't take pics beforehand. Either way it is a personal preference and don't let anyone bully you into making the decision. Do what YOU want, it's your wedding! You want to be happy!

Tons of brides on here have done the 'seeing before' thing to have more time for pics. This however was one thing DH and I refused to bend on. If we didn't have as much time for pics during our break between ceremony and reception time so be it. I guess it really comes down to how much of a priority having pics vs. not seeing one another is.

Seeing DH at the end of the aisle for the first time was a great moment for me I wasn't willing to give up

what you just said: 'Seeing DH at the end of the aisle for the first time was a great moment for me I wasn't willing to give up'

THATS exactly how I feel....

I struggled with this for a long time....we wanted to take pics outside and sunset is at 5:15 or something like that and our ceremony is at four....the photographer sets it up so you have that moment...and trust me I have heard seeing you walk down the aisle toward him will still be just as magical...Love Rocks has some great pics of when DH first saw her....

Everyone of my friends that got married said that they wished they did pics before

I finally gave in and am so happy I did...we take pics at one and will not have to rush between ceremony and cocktail hour....I am sure me seeing him at the end of the aisle will still turn my stomach....something to think about....good luck

I was dead set against it to until I thought about how much more time my family, BP and we would have at our reception and then I read about how much more special it is to be 'unveiled' before the ceremony. It's just the 2 of you and the photographers instead of you and your guests. It's more personal and intimate and that's what changd my mind. FH didn't have a preference.

ultimately you have to do what is right for you :) DH and i did see each other before the ceremony but that was inevitable because the signing of the ketubah in jewish ceremonies is done before you actually walk down the aisle. i am SO GLAD we saw each other before because it really calmed our nerves a little and we got to have that semi-private moment before all our guests arrived. honestly i'm choked up even thinking about it. and, when i walked down the aisle it was still equally as emotional for me (as soon as i heard our music, i pretty much fell apart!). but when i got to the end of the aisle, DH was uncharacteristically calm and i think that was because we had our 'reveal' moment already. here are our pics...sorry if they are really big!

then, our first posed pic together:

there is also an old thread with tons of reveal photos on it: click here for reveal moments

good luck! no matter what you decide, your day will be perfect so no worries!

personally, i would rather him not see me before I walk down the aisle, so that is what we are doing. We also have 4 hours in between though.

One of my friends was in your situation where the ceremony was right before the cocktail hour so they had to see each other before. What they did is they had the groom go to the brides house and they captured the picture of him seeing her for the first time so they still have that memory with them. It was a really cute idea and if i had to see FH before the ceremony this is what i would do. HTH

We saw eachother before
But we also woke up together and had all our friends over who got ready at our house.

I got to spend the entire day with my DH and it was amazing he was so helpful all morning while i was getting hair and makeup done.

We did a reveal at the bottom of the stairs

We saw each other beforehand, just the two of us (and the photog). It was really special and we were able to spend some time alone just taking it all in without having 300 pairs of eyes on us. (It didn't make the walk in any less special)
