Long story short-I am going to try try on wedding dresses a few days before I get my underarms (and a few other places) waxed for my birthday trip to Mexico. I dont want to change either appointment. Do I suck it up and shave although I really DONT want to, or do I explain to the salesgirl why I have hairy armpits and hope that she isnt appalled? Not saying anything against those that choose not to shave

Re: To Shave Or Not To Shave
Meh. Don't shave. I've got to think it's not something they haven't heard before and, as you jokingly mentioned, there are those that really don't shave!

don't shave! don't ruin your waxing plans because of a salesgirl who probably has seen a lot worse!

Dont shave if you dont want to...and you dont owe the salesgirl any explanation.

don't shave or share....if the salesgirl thinks something of your hair, that's her issue....you don't owe her an explanation

Dont shave-I doubt that your pits are half as hairy as those who dont shave ever Just know that you will have your arms up for your first fitting

DON'T SHAVE!!!!! Why would you ruin beautiful pitts in Mexico, for some lady you will deal with 5 times, tops?!?!?!?
If you feel the need, explain yourself. I however, would have a little fun with it, maybe even braid it?!?!
j/k (about the braiding!)

Re: To Shave Or Not To Shave
honestly, they wont really say anything cause i had hair on my pits and legs when i went to try on dresses and thats just because i was growing it to get a wax. do what makes you comfortable.

Re: To Shave Or Not To Shave
1- I'm sure the salesgirl has seen worse. 2- You'll probably never see her again in your life (thats what I tell myself when something embarrassing happens to me in front of people I dont know) 3- Last time I was trying on wedding dresses the salesgirl had a beard (seriously).
Don't compromise you're waxing just to save yourself from embarrassment from a person you probably will never see again/wont even remember you!

you dont owe anyone an explanation about your armpits! if she gives you a look or attitude, then tell her if you like

Re: To Shave Or Not To Shave
i say dont shave and just make a joke of it
i had the same problem when i was going for my pedicure before the wedding - i wanted a 'fresh shave' the morning of the wedding
so when i sat down i just apologized for my hairy legs and we laughed about it then she called everyone over to look at them because i hadnt shaved in two weeks and she thought my hair was so light

Re: To Shave Or Not To Shave
i do not think you should shave since you want to wax. but everyone keeps mentioning the salesgirl only but when i tired on dresses and i went everywhere - it seemed to be a crowd of people and u come out of the dressing room and your back is open if the dress is too small for you and the mirror is out there where people are coming and going so it is public display and not just the sales person but its just yours armpits-keep your arms down! i doubt its noticeable if they are down-right?! and the rest of your hairy-ness wont show under the dress so thats fine.

HA! Depends on how long your armpit hair is. Don't worry about it. Do what you've got to do!
