to shy to choose my bridesmaids - pathetic!

i am having some debate over my bridesmaids. i already know my 2 sisters and FSIL will be in the party, but i would like to have a few more girls. i dont have many super close girl friends, but i was thinking of asking two friends i have recently been spending more time with (its FH's friends' girlfriends) but i am a little shy. (so pathetic!) i have known the one girl for two years or so and the second girl i have only known for about 1 year. the thing is all three of us hang out pretty frequently since the six of us do the couples things almost every weekend. they are super sweet girls and fun to be around. i am unsure about asking them since we aren't exactly best friends. do you think it would catch them off guard or make them uncomfortable if i asked them? one of them actually brought the idea of being in my party over a few bottles of wine at the vineyards.....

I would ask them... If they are the people you can be yourself with and enjoy the time you spend with them, then why not? I would go for it!

Just ask...the worst they will say is NO but they won't...so just go for it.

I'd ask too - are their SO going to be in the BP as well? If so - perfect! Go for it!

I am having the same problem with a friendship I have made this past year. I am undecided still because she told me her twin sister is planning on getting engaged and married the day before my wedding. So, until I know what is going on with that, I am holding off on asking her. If the dates end up not being so close, then I will ask her later on. I say go for it- they will be honored!

I would stop to consider the future. If your FH's friends broke up with these girls, would you still be friends with them? Would you still see them and be close with them? Sometimes friendships come and go and seem like great friendships at the time. However, in retrospect, I'd hate to look at my wedding album 10 years from now and not still be friends with those people in my wedding party. That's me though, you might not feel the same way.

Of course, it's completely up to you, I only hope I've given you something to consider.

Good luck!

Don't feel pressured to have more people in your party since you already have 3. There's no rule that says you need more. I agree with what was said about looking into the future and that you have no guarantee they'll be in the picture a year or 2 from now.
IMO your BP should be family and/or friends who've proven there spot in your life and will be there for the long haul. Some of my best friends who are in my BP, we don't talk all the time because of distance, but they've been around for years!
Have the people who really mean something to you be part of your special day. And if it's only a few, that's okay too!

If you want to ask them don't feel embarassed. They will probably be flattered. Think about how you would feel if they asked you. Good Luck
