I like these kinds of dances because EVERYONE can do them- the electric slide, cotton eyed joe, cupid shuffle, etc!

Re: To Slide or Not To Slide
uggh i don't particularly like the electric slide. i guess i would consider it. if people are requesting it left and right, then i would let the band do it

I'm on the fence...I'll probably request it at the wedding if I feel like I wanna do it.

My mom and my sister are trying to convince me to play this and the chicken dance!! This isn't as bad as the chicken dance but we're already doing the tarantella and also the Hoedown Throwdown (by Hannah Montana)!!!
Hoedown Throwdown? I need to look this up!

I picked 'Not over my dead body' because that's basically what I told my DH, DJ, and anyone who asked me.

My sister (moh) one of my bms my sisters fiance and his two sisters are going to learn it. I think I'm going to send the link around in case anyone else is interested in learning it ahead of time. its pretty complicated. It started out just for FHs daughter but i must admit I am getting into it!! I think it'll be fun.

Re: To Slide or Not To Slide
i wouldn't want the slide at my wedding, but that's a matter of opinions... i think allowing everyone to do their own thing is always more fun~

Re: To Slide or Not To Slide
I like it for some stupid reason....as opposed to something like the chicken dance which I think is really cheezy ( no offense anyone who likes that). But, I am still undecided about it...probably will have it...I think it is fun and gets the older crowd on the floor too.

Re: To Slide or Not To Slide
Cheesy yes - but such a classic + its a good song for the ppl who can't dance bc they totally get it - so if they're sitting down, this song is most likley to motivate them onto the dancefloor. It's one thing not to be a 'cliche' but the reception is really for the guests and when you look back on the day the electric slide would be the last thing on your mind I started out by saying no to this but I figured its a 3 minute dance and if i'm going to have boom boom swagger all over the dance floor might as well add the pow, everyone always goes ape-sh*t over that stuff regardless of how much they're mind says no they're feet say yes because its electric haha

nope, the only group dance i would consider is cotton eye joe, but I have to learn it first. For some reason I never got really learned it in high school.
Yet FH is still fighting me on this one.
There are many different versions but you tube it!! Go for it - I volunteer to teach ya if you tube doesnt help I used to love this song - Here goes- I just finished doing the dance in my living room and with the help of wiki I managed to put these instructions together for an easy how to:
How to Dance the Cotton Eye'd Joe
1. Stick out your right foot and tap the ground with the bottom of your heel twice.
2. Put your right foot behind the you and tap the ground with your toe twice.
3. Put your right foot forward and tap the ground once with the bottom of the heel. – Then Immediatley Raise your right foot up to the left thigh in front of you and touch the foot with the left hand.
4. Put your right foot forward and tap the ground once with the bottom of the heel. – Then Immediatley Raise your right foot up to the left thigh in behind you and touch the foot with the left hand.
5. Starting with a step out with your right foot –Move a total 3 steps to the right and then clap the hands.
6. Turn around in a circle in a series of 3 steps, and by the time you clap again you should be facing the next wall *Same concept as the slide where you repeat the same steps in all 4 directions (walls)
7. Start over and Repeat steps above until the end of the song.
Hope this helps Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions!!
*Edited for title inclusion
