Ok since 2008 is almost over…I take this time to write to you girls, the 09’ers!!!! Your year is almost here. In a little over a week you girls will start getting married!!!!!!! I hope we can all give you the best advice and experiences on our day to help with your special day!!!!!!!!
The best advice I can give..
1. Don’t worry about the weather…IT’S THE ONE THING YOU CAN’T CONTOL AND PROBABLY THE LAST THING YOU’LL NOTICE!!! It was crappy on my day, but I was so wrapped up in the emotion of the day, that I could seriously care less about the weather.
2. If its within your budget..GET A VIDEOGRAPHER! I was so happy we did! As much as you think you’ll “take it all in” unfortunately the day goes very fast and there are things you will miss and things that will go unnoticed!
3. Spend some alone time with your new husband! After all it’s your big day and the one reason you threw the wedding in the first place. We did this during the beginning of cocktail hour and we were so happy we did. It really gave us a chance to connect as husband and wife and just made the day that much more special.
4. Don’t sweat the small stuff…Its not worth it anyway. What’s most important is that you are marrying the one true love of your life. After the wedding..what matters is YOUR MARRIAGE..not what went wrong the day of.
5. Take it all in! The day goes so fast! So just stop for a minute to take everything around you in. Its really nice to see how all of your planning comes together!
6. Understand that you probably already have or will find out who your true friends are.(unfortunately a wedding brings out a side in people you may have never seen).
7. Don't worry about things going wrong! You can't control them, and thats not whats important anyway. I was a stressed mess the week of my wedding (a bad car accident helped that) but I wish I would have relaxed more and enjoyed the last few days leading up to my wedding day. So take time the last few days before your wedding to relax and really enjoy the anticipation (that in a few days, you will be getting married)!!!!!
Girls its almost your year………..So ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Believe it or not. It will seriously fly..and you’ll wake up to the morning of your wedding! I cannot wait to see you on the newlywed board! Congrats!!!!

all the advice above me is GREAT advice!! here are some of mine....
take time to SOAK THE DAY IN!!!! stop, look around and just take in details, funny moments, family members having conversations - take it ALL IN!! the day goes by in what feels like 5 minutes.... sounds crazy, yes - but it really does!!
put your best man/men in charge of taking care of any drama or stupid drunken-ness that could possibly go on. lets face it, people will be drinking and drama could flare up in an instant (not saying it will, but better to be safe than sorry, right?) there was a fight @ our reception... but thanks to my wonderful BIL's (who were the best men) i never saw a second of the fight & they were escorted out!!
when you walk around to collect envelopes and say hi to people - NEVER EVER EVER let those envelopes out of your sight!!! my friend got married and her bridal attendant offered to take the envelopes from her to place in her bird cage.... at the end of the night, 3 were missing. it was never confirmed to be the bridal attendant, but who knows!!
those are my 3 top words of advice.... i'm sure all my sexy 08ers will touch apon all the other things... like dont freak out about the weather you cant control it and how its your day etc etc
i cant believe our year is over!!! enjoy the rest of your wedding planning process and the big day!!

Whoooaaaa!!! It is time for us to do this.. WOW!
1. Have fun planning!! If you are getting stressed about other people and other things over the corse of planning,, let it go. Try and change the situation. Plenty of people will try and give advice (un-solicited advise!), say 'oh thanks,, I will have to think about that' or something along those lines to pacify them!
2. Take some time with your DH to talk with your guest and BP and thank them for making your day so special.
3. Don't stress about the weather.. you can not change it. If you want pictures outside plan it, but also plan a back up location that is inside. I had a Cold rainy day...all day and it looks GREAT for pics and video in the long run
4. Take time to look at your room before the guest enter the reception.. you will be amazed at YOUR space.
5. If you have a Dias table sit and watch people while they eat.. see the smiles and laughter. It made every penny we spent well worth it when we saw everyone we loved having a blast
6. Take what you learn on LIW with a grain of salt. You don't have to have a custom aisle runner, flip flop basket, cry packs, 'we do' letters, a second dress, an expensive photog/video.. Do what you and FH please!! Remember that this is your wedding!! No one on this board is going to pay for it!! Lmao!
7. Share your pictures and review when it is over. It is good to share with your fellow 09ers and also future 2010, 2011 and beyond brides.
8. Have FUN on the wedding boards- then check out LongIslandFamilies.com. They are a fun site that is related to this one
9. Break in your shoes, don't go crazy trying to lose weight before your wedding, and pick your style, do what you heart loves!!
10. Remember why you are getting married- You and FH are in LOVE! The process is all about LOVE, not keeping up with the 'jones's' or showing off.

I also suggest
* going to your cocktail out, DH and I got most of our hellos out of the way than!! and we only went for 20 minutes!!!
* Even if you exhausted make Do the dead the wedding night, there something soo special about it!

Really everyone has already posted what you should do on your special day. I agree dont stress over the small stuff. My bustle kept falling out and I did not let it bother me one bit. Enjoy every second of the day and really try to absorb all that is going on. Take time for yourself and take time with you and your husband. It is such a magical day!
Also as a previous bride said Please do not stress over the weather!!! Any kind of Overcast or rain will be the most beautiful pictures. Just make sure you all have umbrellas! Good luck and best wishes to all of you!! I can not wait to see the start of the year when you all take your vows!!!

First and foremost I want to say congrats to each and every one of you!! Your year has finally arrived. It goes by really really quick so enjoy it. Enjoy every second of your day.
1. Don’t let people get you down. I realized that there are some VERY miserable people out there but don’t let that get you down.
2. Things will happen that are beyond your control. Don’t even let it get to you. You are still marrying the loves of your lives and you will have the best day no matter what.
3. Smile a lot. Your pictures will show how truly happy you are that day.
4. The week before your wedding you will go through A LOT of different emotions. Everything will work out in the end.
5. Don’t stress the small stuff. Those little insignificant details that seem so important just aren’t as important at the end. You will realize this.
6. Enjoy your day. Dance, drink, eat and have fun!!!!

One Piece of advice I can give, is dont assume anything.
If there are certain pics you want from your photographer, dont assume he/she will take them because they are the 'norm' pics. Tell them every single one you want.......

Oh yeah, this is a good one! I even gave my photographer my 'must-take' list and he still missed a lot of pics!! Of course, I didn't realize it until days after the wedding...
