Ok since 2008 is almost over…I take this time to write to you girls, the 09’ers!!!! Your year is almost here. In a little over a week you girls will start getting married!!!!!!! I hope we can all give you the best advice and experiences on our day to help with your special day!!!!!!!!
The best advice I can give..
1. Don’t worry about the weather…IT’S THE ONE THING YOU CAN’T CONTOL AND PROBABLY THE LAST THING YOU’LL NOTICE!!! It was crappy on my day, but I was so wrapped up in the emotion of the day, that I could seriously care less about the weather.
2. If its within your budget..GET A VIDEOGRAPHER! I was so happy we did! As much as you think you’ll “take it all in” unfortunately the day goes very fast and there are things you will miss and things that will go unnoticed!
3. Spend some alone time with your new husband! After all it’s your big day and the one reason you threw the wedding in the first place. We did this during the beginning of cocktail hour and we were so happy we did. It really gave us a chance to connect as husband and wife and just made the day that much more special.
4. Don’t sweat the small stuff…Its not worth it anyway. What’s most important is that you are marrying the one true love of your life. After the wedding..what matters is YOUR MARRIAGE..not what went wrong the day of.
5. Take it all in! The day goes so fast! So just stop for a minute to take everything around you in. Its really nice to see how all of your planning comes together!
6. Understand that you probably already have or will find out who your true friends are.(unfortunately a wedding brings out a side in people you may have never seen).
7. Don't worry about things going wrong! You can't control them, and thats not whats important anyway. I was a stressed mess the week of my wedding (a bad car accident helped that) but I wish I would have relaxed more and enjoyed the last few days leading up to my wedding day. So take time the last few days before your wedding to relax and really enjoy the anticipation (that in a few days, you will be getting married)!!!!!
Girls its almost your year………..So ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Believe it or not. It will seriously fly..and you’ll wake up to the morning of your wedding! I cannot wait to see you on the newlywed board! Congrats!!!!

Thanks so much ladies. Im actually tearing up a bit myself while reading this. I still cannot believe how fast this past year went , especially after we got engaged in May. 5 more months to go and I will be a Mrs...

Oh wow all of this is so overwhelming..Thank you so much to all you beautiful brides who took the time to give all of us up coming brides so advice. It really was so great of you all to do that. I enjoy coming on here and looking at all your pics. It is such an exciting time and I cant believe in 7 weeks I am going to be married!!!!! happy Holidays to you all and best of luck for the upcoming year!!! Its all so exciting!!!!

5) Find your parents and thank them and hug and kiss them. Even if you did everything yourself. They are just as excited as you are.

oh i forgot a real good. MAKE a very good timeline for day of. Really think it through and really think about how many ppl will get hair and make up done by same ppl as you. How far are you and dh from church or ceremony site, how long will it take to pick up everybody, some limos have to go pick up gm first then go to you to pick up bm's. Where are you taking pics and how far is it from ceremony and also rh, will you have enough time for all the pics you want. Really think this through. I see some girls who had to take pics during reception and ive seen it at wedding ive attended, being pulled out to take pics. Or you dont want to rush to get ready, get dressed, getting to church, especially not rush through pics.
The morning of i had so much time, i was relaxed, was able to take my precious time even had downtime. I was in a very relaxed atmosphere. I even got downstairs a little before 2pm when limo picked me up so was right there when they got there. We had time to go to the church, had over 2 hours for pics at an outside location not rh and still got to RH early and was able to sit back, relax and freshen up before anything even started.
You dont want to rush, or get stressed out at all.

I personally would have been lost w/o this site. I'm originally from NJ, now living in southern CT and getting married in Westchester, NY. When I originally booked the RH in NY I was excited since it was a mid point for our families but then became overwhelmed with the idea of booking vendors I had no references for! Since many LI vendors service Westchester, this board has been a saving grace. I'm review obsessed and feel SUPER confident about all vendors I've booked so far - all thanks to you girls.
Your advice is awesome and I will be sure to save this thread and re-read all the comments closer to my wedding day.
