personally im not at this point.. i feel like it makes people uncomfortable.. and kids always wanna participate..at my sisters wedding it was cute because my other sister and her boyfriend at the time caught it so it made for verry cute pictures.. so i dont know.. actually im not very helpful.. i would say just think about the people that would be catching it and if they would play along willingly..

I'm not into it. Just not for me, so I'll be doing neither.

I'm gonna do it. FH has been planning the garter removal since we got engaged and I think the bouquet toss will be fun.

Re: To Toss or Not to Toss-LoL
We aren't doing the garter toss or bouquet toss but instead we are doing something called 'Anniversary Dance'...All the married couples will get on the dance floor and 1 by 1 the couples that have been married the least time will leave the dance floor until you have the longest married couple left. They will then get the garter and toss bouquet and we are giving them a bottle of wine. I like this idea better then no single guys and girls are put in a awkward situation and usually the married couples dont get to go for the bouquet anymore i like this idea better

Re: To Toss or Not to Toss-LoL
I am just doing a bq toss - no garter even though fh's family wants it. If that is the case and the gun is put to my head fh will just have one to throw i doubt i want to wear a garter the entire day.

I will definitely do both. It's a very fun tradition, although it might be embarrasing when he goes for the garter.

Re: To Toss or Not to Toss-LoL
i caught the bo-k and FH caught the garter at my cousin's wedding in 2004 . . . and it was SO MUCH FUN -i loved it
BUT. . . i was the only person who wanted to go up there, no one else wanted to go and there was only like 4 other girls up there with me . . . so i am not doing it bc my friends are all either married/engaged/in serious relationships. . .
but if you decide to do it - you may make one girl VERY happy. . . i still have the bo-k i caught and it made my whole year, lol!

Re: To Toss or Not to Toss-LoL
No way. I caught the bouquet once at a wedding - no wait, correction, I was one of six single girls at a wedding who were forced to come up for the bouquet toss, the bride tossed it, we all just stood there and it fell on the floor, and it was so awkward and weird that I just picked it up off the floor to save the bride from embarrassment - and they made me sit on a chair and have the garter placed on my leg by some guy I didn't know whose girlfriend was glaring at us the whole time as the DJ made suggestive comments and played stripper music. Not my kind of fun, and I'm not subjecting my friends to it, sorry!

Re: To Toss or Not to Toss-LoL
Dava, I had something similar happen to me at a friend's wedding. I caught the bouquet b/c it was coming right for me... but my boyfriend (now my Fh) didn't think to try for the garter. So when the groom tossed it, it landed on the floor in the middle of a circle of guys who are just staring at the thing like it fell from the sky. One of my friend's boyfriends picked it up to give it back to the groom for a 'do-over.' Instead, this guy is declared the winner, and has to put the garter on my leg in front of his girlfriend, my boyfriend, and my entire family... I was NOT a happy camper.
So I'm not doing the bouquet and gater toss at my wedding. Instead, I think I'm going to give my bouquet to the couple that's been married the longest.
