and I don't know one other person going except the bride! I was supposed to go with girls from work, but they all backed out. And the bride and I have worked together for ten years, so I felt like I have to go! So akward...I hate not knowing anyone at a party!

i hate it too its very uncofortable but hey you will meet people and stuff just introduce your self to the first person you see in your age range ( and who doesnt look like they dont wanna be there lol) i have been in your shoes before it will be ok! I can be your date if ya want! lol

aw, that does stink...it also stinks that all the other girls from work backed out. She will be happy that you are there, and realizing that your other friends from work are not there, i am sure she will introduce you to some other people. you will get through it!

Thanks...she is from my other job (not my teaching job) and she also works as a teacher, so I'm hoping she has some teacher people to talk with!

You will be fine. Just make the best of it. They always have those games and icebreakers anyway.
I went to FH's cousin's shower w/ FMIL and we sat with the brides mother's work friends and I made the most of it. I didn't know any of them, but started chatting it up. FMIL didn't talk much for some reason, but I did and these ladies were twice my age- ahhh- who cares-I just made the most of it.
