Today, I was a lab rat

I had to go to an Ears Nose and Throat Dr today. I have a sensation like I have a fur ball in the back of my throat, and it comes and goes for about a year. So finally I realize I gotta go get this checked. Especially cause I smoke(d), that MTV commercial 'You don't always die from tobacco' freaks me out. So I was x rayed, had sh*t up my mose, and freakin scoped!!! He stuck that flashlighty thing up my nose and it went down my throat.

PS. Still don't know why.... he said could be allergies, or acid reflux. So I have to go for a barium swallow scoping next week!!!!!! URGH!

Hope they find out what's going on with your 'furball' soon - it's the worst when you don't know what it is.

But, sorry, I find medical stuff like this so interesting! When they put that camera up your nose and down your throat, did you get to see your insides on a tv screen??

the scope is annoying... but atleast you will find out whats wrong, then the annoying feeling wont be there anymore.

No, I had my back turned to it. But I did see the pictures... they were kind of neat! the dr told me he saw no fur so thats good!!! lol

Good luck with your testing next week!! I know it isn't fun - especially when you don' t know what's wrong.

I had that 'snakey scope' up my nose too - twice last year....(I have terrible allergies and had some ear trouble too) and it's def not pleasant at all! I remember seeing stars!!!

EWWWWWWW really?!?!

Wow, I do agree with Dava though, it's kinda cool! But at the same time, I have awful sinus problems, and desperately need to see a ENT doctor. So I don't think I'd be a huge fan of that....

I remember one of my friends in 4th grade took spaghetti through her nose and pulled it out of her mouth. As though she was flossing her throat. I remember I was really freaked out by it.

This sounds similar.

sounds like you had an endoscopy! those aren't fun!

I'm finishing my masters in speech-language pathology in may, and we learn all about endoscopies and modified barium swallows! the MBS won't be as bad as the endoscope... you'll just have to swallow a bunch of different food and liquid textures mixed with barium, then the radiologist starts the fluoro and you're basically xrayed... this way they can assess the different stages of your swallow and they're probably testing for GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease)!
