My immediate meat eating response would be it 'tastes like it sounds'

Re: Tofurkey eaters
I think it is delightful, but no one else likes it (except the guy at Trader Joe who was overly excited to help me). It isn't really 'tofu' per se, it doesn't have that spongey tofu consistency. It is more along the lines of seiten - a firmer consistency (a bit firmer than chicken).

I don't do any of the chop up veggies stuff. I just put some oil on the outside and throw the gravy and tofurkey in a pot and cook (covered). Supposedly it comes out better if you use orange juice or something, but I am a lazyarse

I did the veggie on the bottom thing this year, and I did one of the recommended thingies that you marinade it with.
Came out good, I like it. It is not my fav as far as consistency goes though. I don't think I will get it next year. DH is not a fan. he prefers the Quorn roast.

Is your DH a vegetarian? If so you are LUCKY! This weekend I succeeded in getting DH to give up duck Duck and veal down, a whole farmyard to go

I like their stuff. The texture, etc. I buy their naked cutlets, breaded cutlets, and the roast.
I bake the roast with veg poultry seasoning & veggie broth and then slice it thin. We use it for sandwichs for lunch during the week. Instead of buying the pre-sliced stuff.
Tofurkey has a similar taste, but the texture.. not so much. It's a bit dense for me. But it was much better with the basting/marinade thing this time around.

this whole thread is making me throw up a bit in my mouth.
veggie girls...I think it's totally cool....I just don't get the whole 'trickery' foods...I guess I figure if I am not going to eat meat, I am not going to eat 'faux' meat either

they are good Stop and Shop sells their stuff.
yeah it was dh's idea to go veg in the first place.
Thank goodness, because I dont know what I would do. He doesn't really ever cook. And I don't want any meat products in my fridge or on my pans.
Do you cook for him and yourself? Two different things?

it's good!
I like the variation, and the protein. It's hard to come up with a variety of things to eat without including 'faux' products.
faux meat has no veins, no blood, no skin, no bones.
that stuff makes ME throw up a bit in my mouth.

M-lo's foot started the whole gag reflex...
those things make me sick too...i NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER eat the skin...and i don't eat anything still attached to a bone...and I like my meat medium well.
I don't really like meat all that much...I could go for days without eating it...but sometimes a juicy cheeseburger calls my name (I eat veggie burgers...it's just NOT the same )
eat beans...eggs and beans..Victor should know ALL about that!

Well that's whitey Stop N Shop for ya. They don't have those.
I have to try IGA in the Hood. They have like an entire aisle dedicated to Goya products.
