together with their families OR together with their parents?

Are both of these correct when it comes to invitation wording, does it matter which one I use? TIA

I should have mentioned this in the original post, we weren't going to do names because both of FH's parents are remarried and it'd be too hard to list everyone

Is he close with his stepparents? I would probably do families. How does FH feel?

He's close with his stepmother. We were cutting up the invitations we printed out and he made a comment when he saw together with their families and asked shouldn't it be parents? So I thought I'd ask you girls since we didn't print out all of them yet. I didn't think it mattered but I wanted to make sure it wasn't wrong

You mentioned that your FH's parents are remarried ... I would do families, unless your FH feels a parental relationship with his step-parents.

Most of the time 'parents' is used when its just your birth parents ...

I would leave it as families. Both his mother and father, which he are close with, are still alive so with families would be the way to go.

I would put 'together with their families' if there are too many (for example stepparents) to list.
