Tonight is my first...UPDATED...I'm BACK

...meeting with my first vendor (hall not included)!!!! I am SOOOOOO nervous! It's with Pedestals Florist. Last night I made a list of all the vendors I want to meet with, boy do I have my work cut out for me. I have plenty of time, so I am going to shop around.

Any suggestions for tonights meeting?!?!? I am going solo (FH has to work). I am so nervous!

TIA!! -Jill

ETA: Meeting went well. Price was a bit steep ($2600), but that's getting more than I anticipated/expected. It would be for...
-2 alter displays and 6 pew bows (not sure we'll do that)
-votives and petals on placecard table (No Chg)
-my bo-k
-4 BM bo-k (i want them all the same size)
-10 bouts
-1 flower girl basket w/ flowers and petals
-4 mom/gramma corages
-17 tall centerpieces w/ votives and petals at base

Think that was it. I went in there wanting roses only (to keep it simple), then modified my wants to include possibly green hydrangeas, peonies, and gerger daisies (not all together in 1 thing, but througout).

Overall, glad I have a starting point!!! YEAH!

Can you take someone with you! Two heads are better than one

Good idea. My mom went with me.

When meeting with the florist, it is also help (if you have made these decisions) to show that what your dress is like, your BMs, the color scheme you want.

A good florist will also talk to you and ask you questions to get a feel for your taste and what your looking for.

It also doesn't hurt to bring along pictures of arrangements you like and don't like (the don't like is VERY important).

Good luck with your first meeting. You will be a pro at this by the time the planning is over

Re: Tonight is my first...

I would love to have someone go with me but... FH is working, my mom lives in Illinois, my step-mom lives in S. Carolina, FH's sister is on vacation, FH's SIL too busy for me (LONG story), MOH has to take her hubby to a dr appt (recovering from a motorcycle accident)....I COULD ask my brother to go. He is good like that .

Have not chosen my dress, or BM's yet. I know the color dresses I will have, also know what flowers I want. All roses except stephanotis (sp?) in mine and FH's bout.

I am sure I will (unfortuantly) be on MANY vendors appts alone, at least during this 'interviewing' process. When it comes time to book FH willl HAVE to go (like it or not ).

Anyone wanna come

Re: Tonight is my first...

I am using Pedestals... they have been great to work with so far... when FH and I went there the lady we met with suggested all these flowers and we actually didn't say much at all... she knew exactly what we wanted and picking the flowers ended up being so simple... have fun!

That does sound like kind of a lot. I was quoted $3100 for:

2 alter displays and 8 pew bows;
Cala CP w/ hanging votives, petals, and votives for card table;
18 tall Cala CP's w/ votives (12 calas each w/ bear grass);
My Cala & peony Bo-K
9 Cala BM Bo-K's w/ MOH slightly larger
1 Groom bout
9 GM and ring bearer bouts
4 mom/grandma/godmother corsages
4 dad/grandpa/godfather bouts

My advice is to go on at least 2 more florist interviews before making a decision. Good luck!

sounds like alot ot me too - we are paying just under 900 for
my bouquet - all orchids
2 large clutch bouquets for mohs
2 training bouquets in baskets for bm's
6 head wreaths with long ribbons in back
14 boutineers
9 corsages
dressing the gazebo in all silk leaves
hmmm am i forgetting anything ?
not sure but i think that is the gist of it - the flowers on my bouquet alone are almost 300 - so i think i am getting a great deal -
