Tonsils-UPDATE!

Tonsils-UPDATE!

Hey girls, so I mentioned on a post the other day that I had strep throat. Well I have been out of work all week, luckily it was only 3 days b/c I start my vacation tomorrow and don't go back until the 20th. I was sick back during Feb break with bronchitis and that also started with a throat infection and now 2 months later got strep. I had 101.7 fever for 4 days, even when I took motrin and antibiotics, so I was just wondering if any of you recommend getting your tonsils removed for chronic throat infections? if I decide to do it, it has to be done this summer before the wedding so any advice>

UPDATE:
Went to the ENT and after 11 days still have an infection and major swelling, so the doctor gave me more antibiotics even though I am not finished with the first dose I spoke to the ENT and he decided that removing the tonsils would be the best bet! So July 11, I will me tonsil-less!

that's great...do you think the doctor will give me a hard time about getting it done? I know some doctors highly recommend it and some don't!

I don't know every doctor is different. Ask about it. My doc was the one who suggested it to me...

Re: Tonsils

i had them taken out when i was 19. best thing i ever did. i used to get sick eery 2-3 weeks. my doc had a pic of my tonsils(still attached to me) on his desk FRAMED cuz they were hugeeeeeee i think 3cm wide each.. they were liek 2 testicles. it was BAD.

but anyway... do it!!!! ull feel pain the day after.. but meds will make it go away.

as soon as i woke up from the hospital i had to pee.. so i get up and the nurse and my mom were escorting me.. so i started dancing.. for a sec they thought i was collapsing ( i guess i have no rhythm ) but i felt great. i even went food shopping on the way home from the hospital llolll

and i was eating steak and perogies after 3 days (totallly dont recommend it)

but GET IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Tonsils

ok, so i used to get constant tonsilitis like every month realllllllllllly bad like i would lose serious weight cuz it would hurt too much to eat and i finally decied to get them removed when i was 19.... and while it was a LOT of pain for about a week after, its worth it since i dont get tonsilitis or sore throats etc, once (in the 3 yeahs ive had them out) my throat got scratchy but thats about it, so i do recommend it if youre having consistent pain but it does hurt

Re: Tonsils

I had mine out when I was 15. I used to get Strep or Tonislitis every Nov. and Feb since I was a baby... why I had to suffer for 15 years don't ask me. It was seriously like clockwork. If I had strep in Nov, I had tonsilitis in Feb, or vise versa....

I havn't had a throat infection since. The surgery isn't bad and I remember a quick recovery I think I was out of school for like a week tops. I definalty reccomend it if you have chronic sore throats.

GL.... HTH.... oh and it's best diet ever!!! LOL

Yes, I had bad sore throats as a kid all the time, so I had my Tonsils taken out when I was a kid. I rarely have sore throats now.

Re: Tonsils

I had chronic tonsilitis in college and I was ALWAYS sick. Finally, right after I graduated I got my tonsils out and it was the best thing I ever did - haven't had a throat problems since. The recovery was pretty easy too - was eating frozen yogurt for a few days (soooo yummy), but other than that - no problems! I would highly recommend getting it done. Hope you feel better!
