so the RH we want gave us the 2009 price and said they would honor it for 2010 if we booked within reason. Would it be too ballsy of us to try and get the 2008 price? How would we even do it? TIF

Re: too ballsy?
I think most 2008 weddings are booked so getting 2009 is great! I got 2008 prices in 2006.

As some places will give you the price for the current year they dont have to do this-if booking for a specific year they can offer you the current year price or give you the actual price they would charge for that year.
Its one of those things-but they dont have to give it to you-its an extended courtesy
As for the OP-if they are willing to give you the 09 price ask if they are willing to give you the 08 price, if not take it

I would ask, couldn't hurt. I seriously considered the riviera, and found that they were open to negotiating. I ended up elsewhere, but can't hurt to ask!

Re: too ballsy?
I would take the 2009 price!!! We booked in 2007 and they gave us the 2008 price! I wouldn't push them too far too fast!

I doubt you'll get the 2008 price, but it doesn't hurt to try!

Re: too ballsy?
i think there's a way to ask for anything. You could say something to the effect of, 'I could have my dream wedding here but unfortunately it's a little out of my budget. Do you think we could work with $xx per person?'
I would ask for a dollar amount rather than 'the 08 price'. Semantically, it seems as thought you are looking to stay within a number/budget rather than haggle for a better deal just for the hell of it.
Maybe it's just me that thinks that. haha

Re: too ballsy?
If they want your business they'll compromise with you. They can either get no business = 0 dollars or gain your business and only lose a couple hundred dollars. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Re: too ballsy?
I would ask!
Tell them you are deciding between two halls but you like their's better...however the other hall is a bit less expensive.
It is a competive market out there and many RH and vendors will do anything to get your business! We bargained with all of our vendors!!!

Re: too ballsy?
Huh? What is a 2008 price vs. a 2009 prices? Do RH go up a couple dollars pp each year?

Re: too ballsy?
I would definatly try to get the '08 price!!! I would tell the ch that its a difference of a few dollars and that you would be much more pleased with that price rather then a higher one...Which CH was this?...
