Too early to register?

Too early to register?

Hello everyone! I was planning on attending the registry event Fortunoff is having this Sunday. Since I'm not getting married until 2005, do you think it is too early to register? I'm just afraid of things being discontinued over the next year. Are they supposed to notify you if this occurs? Thanks!

Fortunoff sends u a email before they discontinue anything so I wouldnt worry about it. I would just keep an eye on it and update things if needed.
If you register now you may get some engagement gifts off of it. I got pleanty with no party. Besides that I got stuff for my bday christmas, v-day all from the registry which I really dont mind b/c I need everything and I rather pick out my own stuff that I like rather thank his 90 year old grandmother picking out sweaters for me.

Im getting married Oct 2005. I dont plan to register until January 2005, just because I dont want to run the risk of things discontinueing. I hate when that happens!!

Go register! It's never too early. So what, if something discontinues, you pick something else. I registered last April and my wedding is this August!

I wouldn't worry about it. I registered in the summer of 2002 for a Jund 04 wedding. A few things have been discontinued along the way, so we just updated our registry periodically. The only stuff I would really wait to do is towels and linens, b/c those styles get discontinued more often.

I registered early because people asked me too (for engagement gifts)
You could just register for your crystal and your china- they usually don't discontinue.

If people want you to register now so they can get you an e-gift or a b-day present, I'd register for a few things, like maybe some dishes and silverware, maybe some fancy towels. Register for things that don't have a lot of parts - like your good china where one gift is a place setting and you have 12 place settings plus all the service pieces. Register for your knife set- one piece- 1 gift. This way if it gets discon't. no big deal, its not like you have 1/2 and either have to go buy the rest your self or deal with returning what you do have.

My wedding is Dec 06! (Now we're thinking april 06) and we've already registered for thing we don;t think will discontinue, like blenders, mixers a and our fine and casual china. And you get an email if it discontinues. In my family once you're engaged, any gift you get form then on is usually fomr the registry, and anyway I'd just go to the event for fun. You can always go home and delete the whole thing online, if you want.

I would register for a few things if you just got engaged... people will want to buy you engagement presents and save yourself from getting some ugly junk.

you can always register for the major stuff later!

I registered and I'm getting married a month after you. I didn't register for that many things and I plan to add more things once it gets closer.

Mine is in July and I still haven't registered yet.

IMO, I think it's too early to register yet. Like everyone said things might get discontinued.
