It is in no way to early. I gave mine out with my favors at my engagement party in November and then sent out the rest to people not at the engagement party in December. That may have been to early but, I had them so I wanted to send them. I don't think that there is a real rule as to when to send them.

i think right now its the perfect time to send them out. 9 months in advance gives them plenty of time and it's not too soon.

i think it is...i think they should only be sent out if you haev alot of OOT guests or you are having your wedding near a holiday..JMO but id say since your not around a holiday to wait to send them until like april or May unless you have alot of OOT guests...i wasnt gonna send them out until i realized we booked memorial day weekend...i thought it was a waste of $$...but i got simple ones from vista print it cost me $20 to make them and mail them......so again JMO

My wedding is a week after yours, and I sent my STD cards the last week of December 2007. I did it purposely so that people could put it in their new 2008 calendars...plus, we have a bunch of OOT guests, but they're mostly family, and they've already been informed.
I don't think it's too early.

9 months is fine, i've gotten them almost a year in advance before. whatever floats your boat you know?
we sent ours out at like 9 months too I think... Easter is the Sunday before our wedding, and we weren't sure if schools were closed the week before or after Easter and most of our guests go away that week with their kids so we wanted to make sure they knew about it.
FYI just b/c you send the STD doesn't mean people will pay attention to it either. A guest we thought was a 'given' at our wedding got the STD, put it on his fridge, and forgot about it...he booked a vacation for that day, and another friend of ours forgot about it and used all his 'sick/vacation' days so he can't make it either.
so...if you send it out a little closer to the wedding, people may be more apt to pay attention to it.

I don't think it's too early. We sent ours out about 13 months before, with our e-party invites and announcements (to people who didn't get e-party invites).
We are getting married on a Sunday and have lots of OOT guests so we wanted to give people time to plan for it.

No. But remember that once you send it out, you're obligated to invite them. Be sure that the folks who get STDs are folks you'll still want to invite when the time comes.

there are a bunch i decided not to send out cuz they are friends my fh isn't sure he wants to include. so i'm only sending to family and friends i've had for quite a long time, etc.
