After more time and thought into compiling our guest list, I realized we have WAY too many people.
I think I'll have to count on people not coming. That isn't safe, right?
How many are you inviting? How many do you expect to come? What %?

Re: TOO MANY PPL on our Guest List
There is a thread on this on BHB. Someone bumped it for me a few months back. It was a great help. Let me see if I can find it for you.

Re: TOO MANY PPL on our Guest List
It's not exactly the greates idea to do, though they say between 10-20% don't come. The only problem with hoping is those few that respond yes and then for whatever reason don't show ( Unless its an emergency I hate that) We are inviting 165 and had to do a lot of finagaling to get the numbers down. The list isn't final but it's almost there. With that number we have to guaruntee 120 and are hoping for arounf 135-140.
Good Luck! Hope that helps

Re: TOO MANY PPL on our Guest List
i agree...don't buy into the 'ratio myth'
we have nearly a 50% ratio! someone threw a cruise wedding and our wedding date turns out to be several people's birthdays and/or vacation week.

Re: TOO MANY PPL on our Guest List
i am totally in the same boat- but there's nothing i can do about it, it is what it is. We're hoping 40% don't come- i know that sounds nuts but we have a lot of OOTners so it may happen. I know at least 20% won't come cause of my guest list, so if that's all the no'a i get, then bring on the debt! sounds so bad, but we really can't cut anyone especially since we sent out STD's months ago and then the list just kept growing.

Re: TOO MANY PPL on our Guest List
Yes, definitely don't buy the ratio myth. That is just an average! I have had friends who were at about 40% and then friends who were at 3%.
It's safer to do an A and B list if venue size is a constraint, especially when you've given people time in advance to plan for your wedding.
