Hey ladies! FH and I have been looking on all different websites to find out where we will have our reception. We found a bunch of places that are in our price range, but now we want to go look at them. I'm from Brooklyn and don't know where anyplace in long island is except roosevelt field. So we don't know which places to schedule appointments for on the same day so we don't have to make too many trips to look at halls. If we were scheduling appointments, which places are near each other so we can see more than one in a day?
Swan Club Lido Golf Club The Riviera Chateau La Mer The Harbor Club Larkfield Manor Watermill Woodbury Country Club Coral House Thatched Cottage
Some of the halls you listed are in Suffolk, while others are in Nassau. The appointments usually last about 1 hour so you could probably swing 4 in one day is you start early.
Good luck!

Re: Too many reception halls to look at!!
I visited CLM on a saturday afternoon in October and the meeting lasted about 30 minutes max.
I wrote a short review with quotes and info for other bride-to-be's. It's on the '09 board.
Also, go to www.mapquest.com to figure out the exact distance. I'm from Brooklyn too

Re: Too many reception halls to look at!!
I'm from Brooklyn too! I did most of my research online, and narrowed it down to places we wanted to see. Then we visited 2 or 3 a day, till we found the one we liked best, and once we saw it, we never went to see another place.
Good luck to you! It's sooooo frustrating I know (still kind of is for me; I haven't booked yet but I'm 99% sure where we're having it).

Swan Club Lido Golf Club The Riviera Chateau La Mer The Harbor Club Larkfield Manor Watermill Woodbury Country Club Coral House Thatched Cottage
TIA
Hey! Chateau and the Riviera are about 15 minutes away from each other...They are both South of Merrick Road/Montauk Highway, you can def. do both in one day. Larkfield Manor and Watermill are probably about 25 minutes apart. Larkfield Manor is off of Jericho Tnpk and Watermill is east of that on Route 347. Could probably do all 4 on a weekend day. I would say to give yourself about 45 minutes of travel time between Chateau and Larkfield! HTH

Re: Too many reception halls to look at!!
what about using mapquest to see where each is...and then figure out that way....i only know some of them so i am of no help
Swan Club Lido Golf Club The Riviera Chateau La Mer The Harbor Club Larkfield Manor Watermill Woodbury Country Club Coral House Thatched Cottage
However...i do know that woodbury and larkfield are actually only about 10 mins from each other...larkfield is 10 mins east of woodbury....and i think that thatched cottage is not far from larkfield (but i dunno)....windmill...maybe 10 - 15 mins from larkfield (heading east again)
I know riviera and chateau la mer are on the south shore

Re: Too many reception halls to look at!!
I'm from Brooklyn too, and I found it pretty frustrating to figure out the logistics of where to go and when, especially since I looked at halls in Long Island, Westchester and Jersey (where I actually ended up booking).
I only went to one or two of the places you mentioned, so I can't be more specific, but I would recommend picking up one of the Wedding Sites and Services Magazines. They have a central map of Long Island, Nassau and Suffolk, with almost every reception hall on it - so it makes it really easy to tell which are in the same areas.
One you narrow it down, Mapquest can let you put up to 10 locations in one trip and can map it for you so you can see how far it will be from one to the other.
