Too Much Drama at My Bridesmaids Luncheon!
I had my bridesmaids luncheon at a Watch and Clock Museum yesterday. It was awesome! We had a tea with finger sandwiches, scones, and petite desserts. The place was gorgeous and they even had a violinist there. There were flowers on the table and each place setting had a fancy program and mints wrapped in tulle.
I was so excited for this as I have been planning it for a month now. The idea was to get my girls together to ask them formally to be in the bridal party (even though I asked them a year ago informally). I gave them cute books on being a bridesmaid in adorable fluffy bags and formal invites typed in old font on parchment paper and placed in bottles with sand, shells, and a tropical drink umbrella, since we are having a beach themed wedding. I got an awesome new dress and shoes for the occasion and had sent out really cute invitations to come to the luncheon.
Everything would have been perfect except for the fact that hardly anybody showed up!!!!!!!!!!
Reasons why:
1.) Lost my job and cannot afford to be in your wedding.
2.) Quit my job to be stay at home mom and cannot afford to be in your wedding.
3.) Can't come to your luncheon cause I have a bachelorette party to go to that day.
4.) Can't come to your luncheon because my husband and I are going on a cruise that weekend.
And then on the day of the event...
5.) Mother-in-Law died this weekend and funeral is out of state.
Can you believe my bad luck? I understand all of these reasons and they are all good reasons not to come, but I cannot believe this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ended up being my mom, sister (MOH), and one other friend (the other MOH). That was it!
Oh and my sister was a complete jerk the entire time! She is apparently jealous that I am getting married and made a point out of telling anyone who would listen about how her boyfriend of three years forgot her b-day and has not proposed yet to her. I feel bad for her, but this is MY DAY!!! She started MY DAY off by screaming at me because she did not bother to look at the directions I sent her and got lost on her way to the luncheon. NOT MY PROBLEM!
You think people would be nice to me since I went through a broken engagement five years ago. It was the hardest thing to go through. It is not like my life is all roses all the time, but this is supposed to be all about me.
