Too much time between church & reception!

Hi Becky;

Does your church have a nice room where you might be able to serve coffee and punch? You could have the receiving line there where it could be a bit more relaxed and offer some refreshment to your guests. If your photographer is doing candid shots this would be a good time to capture them.

PLEASE HELP!! Getting married on November 18th, at 3:00 pm, but reception isn't until 7:00pm. Just hit us yesterday - WHERE DO WE GO IN BETWEEN?? It may be dark by 4:30 or 5:00, and there's another reception before us until 5, so we can't go right to the country club (1 mile away from church). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Too much time between church & reception!

Our church is at 3 and reception at 7-- with about a half hour driving time in between so we have decided to arrange something with the hotel (4 miles from the reception) so that there is a place to go in between and then we are going to provide a shuttle to the reception - hope that helps just keep in mind it is not the bride/groom's responsibility to provide something in between so anything you do would be going above and beyond Laura

We did our engagement shoot a couple of weeks ago at the studio. That was the first time we got to meet with John H. I found it to be really helpful to do the shoot. This way he go to know our personalities and we got to know his which will put us more at ease on the big day. It also helped him to see how we (Fiance and I) would interact with each other. John was extremely nice and easy to work with. He took over 60 pictures of us in different poses and then some of each one of us alone. He even photographed us facing different ways so he could determine if we had a "good" side. My MoH was there also and he stuck her into a couple of the shots for fun. We had a great time and the pictures came out beautifully. We can't decide which one we want to use for the announcement in the paper. We are really happy that we decided to go with John H. At first we were concerned because the price was a little higher than we had budgeted for but we decided to cut back on other things so we could work with him. Now having the pictures we really know we made the right decision. I just can't wait to see the pictures after the wedding. When are you doing your engagement shoot? Tanya

I am 1/4 quarter Irish but my fiancee is 100%. We did not set out & pick St. Patrick's Day to get married but we liked the Milleridge and we wanted a Sat afternoon and believe it or not, that was the only Sat afternoon left in March. But I think it was a nice twist of fate - it honors his heritage (and part of mine). Plus we can tell our kids that they have a parade in our honor every year (chuckle). We are not making it into a "St Patrick's fest" either, I DID think about hunter green since I do love the color and it would look nice with the decor there as well but we decided against the theme. We are going to have some special touches (that we would probably have no matter what date) - ring bearer's pillow of Irish linen with shamrock lace and possibly very pretty little Irish porcelain favors - a hanging ornament style with the first 2 lines of the Irish prayer on them (very tasteful, not ethnic looking) with our names and date on the back. I'm not sure though. Try not to concern yourself with the 3 hour in-between time. You will have plenty of time for pics and relaxing in the bridal suite. Your guests will take care of themselves, it will be fine. I have not seen Russo's but I hear it's beautiful. Let's hope the weather is not like this year (yuck!)...Stay in touch!

I went to a girlfriend's wedding this weekend, and they did something so cute, I HAD to share with you ladies.

I certainly don't mind your using the Irish pillow idea!!! That's what this chat page is for :-) I got the idea from another bride here too. There are 2 places I know they have it, Curran's in Greenport or Grafton on East 51st St in Manhattan. I am ordering one through Grafton, which is right near my office. If you need it, I can dig up their # for you. I agree bagpipers are probably a scarcity that day with the parade. My fiancee is a firefighter, he could probably round them up but he actually doesnt care for bagpipers. I am sort of neutral on them. What about Irish dancers...we were thinking of that as a possiblity. I think my colors are going to be silver (dresses) and purples and pinks in the flowers. I just love the combination of those 3 colors. Question: What are you doing re: your dress and sleevelength? I have heard it's acceptable to wear ANY length anytime but I have to wonder how sleeveless or spaghetti straps would be in March...I have not gone dress shopping yet. The coffee mugs are a nice idea.

48 days!!
