I was dress shopping yesterday and saw something I liked at RK Bridal and it was a really good price. My wedding isnt until May 2010. Is it too soon to buy something? What if I lose like 10-20 pounds? Won't that be a ton of alterations??? Advice???

I ordered mine! I am getting married in Nov 2010 and I saw something...fell in love...bought it and i couldn't be happier because now its discontinued and I wouldn't have been able to get it as easily if I waited

I dont think its too soon...its a year away! i ordered my dress a month after i got engaged which was about 7 or 8 months ago and its still not in!

I ordered my dress in March and my wedding is in Early April next yr. I plan to lose about 30-50 lbs so they WILL BE taking that dress in. They ordered it based on my measurements now. It's gonna be huge on me!!!
BUT.... better to be too large than too small

not at all, and although you are thinking you have a year for the dress to come in, its actually 10 months bc you need it to come in 2 months before your wedding to start alterations. If you get it in june then 9 months before your wedding you need it to come in and many dresses take that long to come in.
I bought my dress in March of 07 and came in march of 08 to start alterations and was ready right before wedding.

Im getting married april 2010 and I bought my dress a few weeks ago and I go in August to get measured and they will order it then. So I dont think it is to early.

Never too early! I ordered my dress last month and my wedding isn't until October 2010. My beleif is if you truely have found the dress you love,love,love then get it!! Good luck!

Hey date twin!! I am actually going tomorrow to look for dresses and wasn't sure if it was too early or not. Some people were saying they couldn't believe I haven't started looking and then others were saying don't go yet- there's plenty of time. Can't win! Lol. I am excited to try them on so I made an appt for tomorrow. Figured it can't hurt to get a head start.

I found a dress I like at RK too. and this was back in February and my wedding isn't til next November. so I will go back in July to order it. So you're definitely not too early.
Plus I wanted to wait a few months to think about it and make sure that I still like it when I put in the order.
