Too young?

My god-daughter will be 2 years and 4 months on my wedding day.

Do you think she is too young?

Re: Too young?

is she outgoing and not shy? my rb and 2 fgs will be each around 2 years old (one is only 1 1/2). they waddle and can walk pretty well and aren't shy around ppl. they're really cute so i'm not worried about them not making it all the way down.

i also have a plan b: the parents will walk them down if they get scared and decide they don't want to do it alone.

That is the same plan I want to go with as a back up. My FG and RB will be 1 1/2 as well. I think it will be great if they do something unexpected on the way down...if they make it!

I don't think so.
They look cute and adorable...
and perhaps you can ask your bridal party to walk w/ them if they are shy.

Depends on the child. One of my fgs is my niece who w/b 20 months. Yet she'll be walking w/ the older fgs.

My niece was 2 years and 1 month at my sisters wedding and she was great. She is very outgoing and she just followed the lead of the ring bearer. That was in 1988.... she is actually my MOH, lol.

You could always have an older child walk with them. I was going to do this until my FG's mother pulled her out of the wedding (another looong story, hee, hee). So now I only have my neice who will be 8, but she's so tiny she looks like she's 4!

too young to be a flower girl?

well, my daughter was a flower girl at 3....and i think she was too young ONLY because she wasn't ready for the pressure....or the witchy BM that yelled at her for twirling her basket during the ceremony so she ran off in the middle of the wedding crying.....coincidentally, the rest of the wedding, all the guests commented on the rude BM scaring her.

i think you just gotta prime her...my daughter wasn't primed and had no clue of how intense it was going to be....she'd never been in front of so many people or been in such an 'important' role before....center of attention in front of 5 people you know is one thing to a 2 (or 3 in my case) year old.....center of attention in front of 100+ is a whole new ballgame. i don't know how you practice it really....but it can scare them the day of....she's not too young in general...just be sure she knows what's really happening...my daughter actually threw up from nerves b/c her grandmother had talked it up so much that she was scared and nervous.

oh and there was a ring bearer....but she only met him at the rehearsal....and they separated them at the altar. so they didn't really know each other and he couldn't be there to help her out.

my friends niece was one and a half at her wedding - she was the cutest little FG - she went down the aisle by herself, didn't cry, smiled and waived.

I am having 4 junior BM's and one FG (no boys) the FG will be 2 a month before the wedding - if she cries, she cries, I dont care I just want her to be in it.

Re: Too young?

I think it depends. I've been at weddings with very young FGs and RBs. I think it all depends on the child. It is a lot of pressure. It depends on their attitude and personality. Always have a plan B. At my sisters wedding my 4 year old neice got to the church and refused to walk down the aisle by herself. She ended up walking down with me and her older brother.

Re: Too young?

We had one FG that was about 2 1/2. She was a seasoned professional who had been and FG before and was fine. In fact her brother (who had also done this before) was holding her hand walking down the aisle. As much as she tried, she couldnt pull her hand away from him to throw the flowers until she got to the end of the aisle and her dad told her to put a few down.

We also had an 18 month old. She was tired and didn't make it down with HER brother so she ended up being carried by her father with her brother in front holding the basket.

Word of advice, if you have a young child (under 3) in your BP and your ceremony starts late, have their parents provide a port-a-crib so they can nap. We actually had one for my nephew. It was off to the side behind a table and nobody knew it was there. Here he is sleeping in his tux:

I think you should be fine. My FG will be about 2 1/2. I'm not worried.
