I have heard of that before and if you think he'd like it, go for it. I would have loved to have had Otto the Syracuse University Orange at our wedding but that would have meant flying the guy in from Syracuse and putting him up in a hotel.

Tricia,
You know I love you girl, but I wouldn't do it. Cigars yes but I personally wouldn't do Mr. Met. If you think FH will love it, then go for it.

Re: is this cheese?
I dont know if I would do it myself. My FH is a huge Mets fan as well, so I know why you would want to do this for him. Why dont you incorporate his love for the mets at your rehersal dinner? I seen a gazillion Mets groom cakes.

I think it is cute! I think it depends what kind of wedding you are having - if you are trying for an ultra-formal, uber-classy affair, then no mets-guy. If it is more of a fun, less-formal affair, then mets- guy would be so fun (and memorable!)

I think its really sweet you want to do something nice for your fiance, but what would Mr. Met do?? Take pictures? dance?
I personally wouldn't do it. Why don't you get a Mets garter?

Re: is this cheese?
its a cute idea... but i think i would do it at the rehearsal, not at the wedding... like somebody else said, i think the minute he showed up, it would sort of loose the 'wedding' feel and all attention would be on mr. met... there was a post somewhere on the knot or the nest about a girl whose MIL hired the star wars actors to come to the reception ( without telling the bride!) and she said from the minute they came in, all the attentino was on them, and the whole day lost the ' wedding' feel.... so i would either do a grooms cake with mr. met, or get him to come to the rehearsal instead, where its a more laid back atmosphere...

Re: is this cheese?
Maybe you could do something at the rehearsal not the wedding---it wouldn't have the wedding effect if Mr. Met showed up-Maybe a cake like the other girls suggested
