Re: Prayers Please . . .

My thoughts and my prayers are with you.

I understand how you are feeling more than you can imagine because . . .

I am going through something so similar with my mom and it all just happened in the 15 days and in two places. It is so frightening. The last few days I have been thinking about just cancelling the big wedding, getting married in the church and being done with it. So much of my life has been wrapped in a wedding and, well, in the scheme of life, especially this past year, I am sorry to say it, but, that one day means close to nothing now.

In 2008 my dad had a surgery. He then lost his job during recovery. I started loosing my hair and it uncovered other medical issues I am dealing with. Now, far worse, my mom.

I can't begin to tell you how much I am hoping and praying 2009 will be a better fresh start.

I will pray for my family and for yours. We both have to be strong for our moms. God listens - sometimes I don't understand his ways but yet I have always believed. I am so sorry.

I'm so sorry!! I know this must be so difficult for you & your family!! My mom, my two aunts (her sisters), my grandma (their mother) all had breast cancer and have all had partial or double mastectomies and my FH's mother just had a lumpectomy and just finished her radiation. I know it's really scary, but they really do have it down to such a science these days. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. I know it's hard to see right now, but there is a blessing: that it was found early. Try to remember to thank G-D for that. We'll all keep her in our thoughts and hearts and let us know how she (and you) are doing!!

Re: Prayers Please . . .

I'm so sorry to hear about both of your mothers. I will definitely keep all of you in my prayers.

To give you some encouragement, I had two important women in my life develop breast cancer this past year, my FMIL who I'm very close with and my best friend's mom... FMIL was diagnosed in March, 'caught it early', had surgery and then radiation... and my friend's mom also caught early but in both breasts so they did a double-mastectomy to be safe and she didn't even need radiation/chemo. What started off a miserable year ended with both of them with a virtually clean bill of health and a newfound appreciation for life. It's amazing how far medicine has progressed and there's no reason to think your moms won't fare as well. I can't imagine how hard this must be for both of you but try to think positive and not go through all the 'what ifs' and worst case scenarios... it really helped us.

And I'm sure your mothers are both just as excited about your weddings as you are, use it as a happy distraction for both of you!

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. Lucky that they caught it early though, like you said. She will be in my prayers.

How awful - sorry you are going through this. ITA with the other girls who say catching it early is so important and can really mean a clean bill of health. . my sister works in cancer treatment and she totally talks about this all the time. . how early treatment is the most important thing. .. so just try to keep breathing and best of thoughts to you and your family!!!

I am so beside myself, I can barely think straight. My mom has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She is my best friend, and I've never been so scared before in my life. The good news is the doctors say they caught it REALLY early on, but at this point it doesn't make me feel any better. She actually went for a mamogram in October and there was nothing there, but when she went for her annual with her OBGYN in November she felt something and sent her to have it checked out to be safe. I am shaking typing this. When I'm with her I'm trying to be really strong, she's handling this amazing, but when I'm alone I break down. She's having the lump removed on 12/22 and the doctor says she'll be fine for the wedding.

I am so afraid that the doctors are wrong, and that this could turn out to be a bigger nightmare than it already is. They said no treatment will be necessary, which I am keeping my fingers crossed for. I can't bare to see my mom go through chemo and radiation. Please just keep her in your prayers that this ends well. The next 10 days are going to be the longest 10 days of my life.

Sorry to be such a downer, but it feels good to get some of this all out.

I'm so sorry koukla...

BUT remain strong!!!! You can help your mom beat this and if the doctors are saying that she will not need treatment, that is WONDERFUL news!!!! Many women with breast cancer survive and live normal, happy and HEALTHY lives so just keep the faith!!!!!!!!!

If you need me, FM me!!!!!! Until then, I will say lots of prayers and light a candle for you tomorrow at church.
