=(

I was thinking something chicas...

what happens if my Fh and I dont get married on 2011? =(

How do you guys know 100% ur date and everything?

FH and I want to buy a house first, so it will all depend on how that goes... If we dont get a house (well money for the house) on 2010... We would have to push the Wedding to 2012 =( and i dont want to leave you chicas....

Re: =(

It's not even just getting the money for a down payment that is the problem, the whole looking for a house you love and can afford takes a LONG time. At least it did for me and FH. We looked for our house for 6 months before we found it. It is definitely not easy.

I kind of wish we had gotten married first then used the wedding gift $ for the house. Is that an option for you?

maybe rent a place together in the meantime till you find something more permanent?

Re: =(

you should try to rent first if you want to get married in 2011 and worried about not having enough $ for a house.

Just like you, FH and I dont like together and we're hoping that we can use the wedding gifts towards the house - but people are already telling us to be happy if we even get 50% back of what we spend. it's upsetting b/c we want a house but it's not going to happen so we'll probably rent.

Re: =(

Well it took FH & I almost 2 years to find our house. We looked for a while during the summer of 2007; then took a break during the winter and started looking again in the late winter/early spring 2008. We got lucky and found something we both loved and closed april 2008!

I think it's harder planning the wedding already have the house (financially) but i couldn't imagine combining both stresses of looking for/buying a house AND planning a wedding.

But i understand what you mean about wanting to have the house BEFORE the wedding. THis way you can go back to your own home as newlyweds...

It is SO hard to save when you have a mortgage. FH and I are still trying to get used to our crazy electricity bills for the house vs. apartment!

What steps have you guys taken to prepare yourselves to buy a home? Have you started saving for a downpayment? Did you look at any of the mortgage calculators to see what you can actually afford each month??

Buying a home is a lenghty process. If you find it's taking you longer than the 2 years to find something in your price range that you both like; would you hold off on the wedding until you find it?

hahahahahahaha that has to be the funniest comment ever. well atleast to me it is. But i totally get your hispanic people are diff. Some of my moms fam think they can give an envelope with 50$ for 3 people. I mean i know its not suppose to be about $$$ but that your family is there for you. But i also dont want to loose ALL my money and not have anything left.

You should do what you really want. if buying your house is what you really want to do then go ahead!!! buy it (make sure you are ok paying your mortgage, car payments, utilities, becuase paying for a house is 100 times diff then living with your parents at home)

With a 50 person guestlist, i am sure you can have an inexpensive wedding. Unfortunately we have to sacrifice somethings. My sis has an awesome wedding with 110 guest at Riccardos. she spent 10,000 on it. and you have half the guest.

it was 47PP... you have 50 guest that would be 2,350.$$$

Her dress was $600, Pictures 1,900, Limo 700$, Flowers 1900 (and she had HIGHH Centerpieces), DJ 800, Video-Homemade, and thansk to this site i DIY all her other stuff, invites, table numbers, placecards, favors.

Im going to resize some pics and post so you can see her wedding.

Exactly-

(1) as far as buying the house don't try to spend more than you think you can handle. You won't have any extra time to come up with extra $$ each month with that mortgage is due or any other house bills so make sure you can still live and pay your other bills at the same time. And don't forget you still need money for groceries!

(2) With only 50 guests the wedding can be totally affordable-even with not expecting a lot of $$ back-you can do so much. a restaurant; a hall with a smaller room. Ever think about going away? A destination wedding can save you a lot of money too.

Oh and yea i think it was a 2 year process-from the time we started looking to when we closed-that is with a 3-4 month break from looking
