i def feel you did the right thing!
ITs hard especially if she isnt the warmest person as you say. I went with my own mother and sister and got my dress and then when I told FMIL, she seemed excited and was like' oh so soon! thats great' but seemed a lil upset that she wasnt asked to go

You asked and she gave you the answer she did. If she is really interested, she will come!
If not its her loss and you STILL did the right thing!!!

aw, i'm sorry hun! you were just trying to be nice. can you talk to FH about it and see what he thinks? maybe he can talk to her?

If it makes you feel any better, after my FMIL went dress shopping with me she told my FFIL what the dress looked like. He then proceeded to ask me 'Can you breathe or sit down in the dress? I hear it's pretty tight'... UM, really?

I would just let this one slide and forget her coming along. I did not invite FMIL when I went dress shopping either. I just felt that it was something for MY mom and grandma, that was it.

ITA... I didn't invite FMIL when I was dress shopping. I went with just my mother and sister. Once I had the dress picked out, I had FMIL and FSIL come and see me in the dress. She wasn't offended at all. In fact, she was totally fine with it.

You're not over reacting at all. And if you do find your dress when you go on Sunday, her loss for not going. Sorry to be so blunt about it, but it's true!

And I hope you do find your dress!!!

I'd say maybe she was upset over her dad's passing, but you've said she wasn't a warm person so I'm sure that's not it.
