Does anyone watch Daytime Soaps?

I have been watching the ABC soaps since I was a little girl. My mom used to watch them and my sister and I would watch them with her.

Over the years I have dropped one and picked up another but at one point in my life I used to watch all three. Currently I TIVO One Life to Live and All My Children everyday and watch them. FH hates them and thinks that they are stupid but I tell him that his sports addiction is the same as my soap addiction....lol.

In all honesty, watching these shows relaxes me. If I am having a bad day or an emotional day I just put one of these shows on and I am completely relaxed.

MANY MANY MANY years ago I watched Days of Our Lives and Another World (which is no longer on). I saw a few episodes of Passions (which was actually retarded). Then I stopped watching them for YEARS and YEARS.
When I started working at my current company, I started to get back into them because the girls I worked with would watch it during lunch (at first I was annoied because it's such stupid TV - but it get's sooo addicting that no matter how stupid it is... you have to watch it to see what happens). At this point I watched a bunch of All My Children and Days.
Then once I left that position the soap operas stopped.
Can I tell you that having stopped watching them for about 10 years and then picking up to watch them again... they were still doing the same stories... I was still able to know EXACTLY what was going on immediately.
They take soooooooooooo long to get to an outcome... yet the kids age freakishly fast!!!!!!!!!!! Soap Operas are like their own world!!!!!

this is interesting: I just Wiki'd Soap Opera and the reason its called a soap opera is because long ago it was the soap companies (Proctor n Gamble, Levar) that used to advertise and sponsor during these shows so thats where the name comes from.

I always thought it was called a soap opera because soap takes a while to disintergrate, just like a soap opera hahaha. i guess i made up my own definition

Never watched them-and then I felt like a total butt- head because I have worked events with Soap stars (especially from OLTL and AMC)nand have been like 'What's your name??' to them, and they looked at me like I was insane.

But they were very very nice. And I think they liked that I had no clue (or care) who they were.

never got into soaps, but decided that when a new one started I would start, well that new one was Passions! ! ! !

so bad, now it is off the air!
