Torn about cookware

I'm torn between the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel 10 piece set and the All-Clad Master Chef 2 10 piece set. Calphalon is $449 and All Clad is $549 BUT you can use coupons on Calphalon and not on All Clad. But I keep reading awesome reviews about All Clad. I read good reviews about Calphalon but some people complain that the lids and the handles get hot - despite the fact that they aren't supposed to. I'm not sure I like the glass lids on the Calphalon. I mean if dropped, then can break. Any input would be great. TIA

Honestly those are both top of the line brands. I always find that handles get hot with any type of pot so I always use a pot holder just in case. Personally, I have calphalon and love them. The reason I chose them over the All Clad (which i still really liked) is b/c calphalon usual has good bonus deals, so in my case, i got three extra pots for free! But you can't go wrong with either of them.

I think we got the all-clad...whichever one we decided to go with was because FH wanted the ability to throw pots in the oven. Go with whatever you feel more comfortable cooking with!

We almost did Calphalon, but FH didn't like the handles. He thought they didn't seem sturdy enough. Obv they won't fall off, but it didn't seem right when he was playing around with them in the store..lol. So picky..I said, since when do you flip things around like that?

I have the Calphalon Contemporary stainless steel set, only I have the 13 piece. I love it. The lid does sometimes get hot, but that's easily fixed with a potholder. I haven't had any problems with the handles getting hot though. And I've dropped my lids before, no breakage. Remember they're rimmed with the stainless steal, so the glass doesn't actually hit the floor.
