So I've had one hell of an evening! 10 minutes to 6PM, right before i got out of work, out of nowhere a tornado strikes!! ***??!!! In queens??!!! Not a tree left standing, car's destroyed, fruit vendors and concession stands destroyed!! The scariest experience I have ever faced in my LIFE! :

Yeah, a women on the GCP died from a tree that 'flew' into her car. Very sad. But with all the damage, it is fortunate we didn't have more fatalities. It was so quick and sudden.
My neighborhood (queens) is a wreck. Luckily I was in Long Island when it hit. The FH say's everything at home is good. Thank god.
And I chose a September wedding thinking the weather would be 'safest'.

I'm so happy you girls are ok! I saw all this on the news yesterday out here. I can't imagine how scary that must have been.

I was driving around this morning and am amazed by all the carnage!
I grew up in Ohio, so I'm hardly a stranger to tornadoes. I was on the phone with my dad when I saw the images from Manhattan of the green sky and first words out of my mouth were 'oh $hit' and then Queens started turning green. Such an eerie feeling!!!! Thank GOD our block didn't get hit by more than just insane wind and rain, but if you go up 5 blocks there are downed trees and you can't get through most of the side streets. FH was walking home and saw a car in a tree! It apparently fell right as the car drove into it - the driver was fine.
So much for a calm Thursday!

I walked out to this madness when I got off the R train. Since the LIRR was down FH had to pick me up at Forest Hills. Took him 45 mins to drive half a mile down queens blvd. No light, trees everywhere it was a nightmare.

That storm was so scary. It like came out of nowhere, the sky turned black as night & the hail, rain going sideways, lightening and the fierce wind was redic!
Thank God nobody was hurt or anything by my house was damaged but my friends have been posting pictures around the neighborhood and it looks like a war zone & aparently it's like driving in a maze because so many blocks are blocked off by tress and hanging power lines!
I have the flu, so i'm stuck in my house and can't go anywhere to see the damage but just watching it from the window scared me!

OMG I just got my internet up! my cable and internet have been off since last night. I saw a guy walk around with a lit up torch saying the world was ending. The best part is that the priest at our church 'our lady queen of martyrs' had to cancel our final appointment because the trees caused severe damage to our church.. Mind you, we are getting married next weekend.
