Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
I am not going it either. I love the anniversary dance idea but both our Dads have past away. we dont want to make our Moms feel left out. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
whatever you decide to do, i wouldn't suggest singling any one 'single' friend or family member out. I was 'chosen' at my sister's wedding to be presented with her bouquet since i was the only unmarried sister (i was about 24 at the time). She made some statement about that and handed me the flowers. It only made me feel like I was an unmarried looser with no prospect of ever being married! It was like I needed the luck more than anyone else by getting the flowes! Maybe that was just me, but i wouldn't want to take a chance and make anyone else feel that way.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
We are also not doing the bouquet and garter toss. I've always hated it as a guest and a number of my single (female) friends have thanked me for not doing it. Unfortunately the anniversary dance is out because my parents are divorced and only my father is remarried. I went to a wedding a couple of months ago and they didn't do either thing and no one missed it. i love the picture of the anniversary dance of Jennbaby's wedding!

We did not do it. We did the anniversary dance instead and everybody loved it. We gave the lady the bouquet and the gent a bottle of champagne.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
I did it at my wedding although I thought it would leave it out. I asked my BM and they didn't care either way.I even found out who the longest married ciuple would be for the anniversary dance. I made a last minute decision and I was glad I did. I had a very young, fun, single crowd and they loved it. I have been to plenty of weddings where it was not done and very few people missed it. Do what makes you comfotable.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
We are not doing this. I hate that kind of stuff and believe it takes away from the wedding. I am the kind of person who gets imbarressed easily and can't imagine my FH climbing up my dress infront of 130 people... Not our kind of thing. Tell Mom 'times have changed, it is the Millenium' LoL
It is your wedding, you make the call.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
I did the anniversary dance...1. b/c then the dancing doesn't stop
2. it honors people who have been married the longest...isn't that more appropriate for a wedding?
3. there was NO WAY we were going to have ANYONE go up someones dress...I think that is awful...and just disgusting...IMHO...

didn't do the anniversary dance or the bouquet toss, and no one missed them. They were too busy dancing to notice

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
I'm doing the anniversary dance. And when we get to the last couple the DJ announces that in order to thank them for being an example of what true love and companionship is, the bride and groom would like to present them with the boo-k and garter. We're also going to get a nice bottle of wine or champagne to put the garter around.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
Geez are we crazy we were considering doing ALL 3 traditions! But worst case we'll probably cut the anniversary dance cuz a few of my girlfriends have asked that I gently toss the bo-k their way!
I don't think the guys care about the garter tho, no takers there!

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
We didn't do either, instead we did an anniversary dance, which brings out all the married couples and they start to get eliminated from the dance floor until you're left with the couple who has been married the longest and they get the bouquet.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
i refuse to do the bo-k toss or garter. i hated it when i was single, so i'm not going to force others to do it. was thinking of doing the anniversary dance, but my FIL's have been married and divorced multiple times (not to each other), so my mom thought it would be awkward for them to witness.

Re: Tossing of the bouquet and garter....
Doing bouquet not garter-hate the garter thing personally. Not doing anniversary dance either b/c some of the older couples wouldn't be able to dance-too old.

We are not doing the bouquet and garter toss. We will not have many single people at the wedding. We are planning to do the anniversary dance instead.Welcome New Vendors
