totally depressed!!

so since, we are all women i hope someone can hear me on this, i used to go to the gym everday before we got engaged and life became crazy, i have always had hips and butt and it never bothered me, until today, i went to buy shorts for the summer and i couldnt fit into my normal size (7-9) my legs and butt are too big, and then i try on a 13 and they fit my legs, not my waist. I havent been going to the gym because of school, i go 2x a week then wedding planning and 2 dogs i neverhave time! i started my diet this week but im totally disheartned does anyone know of any thigh excercises?

thanks in advance!!

Try doing lunges! They work great. Also, squats against the wall with a yoga ball behind you.

Have you tried Pilates? I have the Winsor pilates DVD that I've been doing for years, they have a 20 minute work out that is great if you're short on time. Pilates really elongates the muscles, giving a leaner result. HTH! Don't be depressed!!!

Don't get down, keep up the dieting and healthy lifestyle. Mix it up with lunges (CAREFUL with the knees), cardio, pilates, swimming. You will be ok! September- you will be one HOT mama

Re: totally depressed!!

you cant just exercise your but and thighs and hope that that will solve the problem. If you are crazy busy and cant get to the gym then just really watch what you eat. what you eat is 90% of the battle. and then just add in a bit of exercise and you will see a huge change.....just doing thigh and butt exercise wont really make the difference.

Re: totally depressed!!

Ok as a trainer and spinning instructor a lot of peopel ask me this question....
first the bad news...there is no possible way to spot reduce...meaning you can't pick one part of your body to make smaller. Although an excersise like squats will be beneficial to gainign muscle, the fat you are burning may not be coming from there..it can be coming from your arms, face, chest...that is how teh body works and that is the reson spot reduction is impssible.

That said,
I would start off getting back into the workout routine slowly...start off jogging lightly at a consistant heart rate (+ or - 6 beats per minute) for about 30 minutes a day. I would do this for 5 days and then start to incorporate weights.

ALSO....

there is no such things as elongating a muscle...it's impossible and is only used as a marketing ploy....those celebrities like jen aniston who say pilates and yoga give them long muscles...fact is that is just their body type...if your points of origin and insertion (where the muscles begin and end) are farther apart then you will have longer muscles...there is no way to chang this

I hear you on that! I tore a tendon in my ankle & have acute tendonitis in both ankles, so I've been out of the gym for over a year! I am so passionate about yoga, that I got certified to teach it a few years ago(on the side, I am a public school teacher), but now I can't even do yoga! I would kill to be able to work out again!
