I know that I don’t really post a lot of messages, however, I’ve really enjoyed reading other people’s experiences and getting honest opinions from other brides regarding different topics.
It is for this reason that I’m sad to say that I don’t think that I’m going to be posting any more of my opinions on LI Weddings. Since I’ve been logging onto this site, I think I’ve given two honestly negative opinions about two different vendors here on this site. Both times, someone from this site has gone to the vendors to let them know that I had a negative opinion, causing the vendor to then approach me. I think that it is silly that people are “ratting” each other out to the vendors. I feel like I was bad in school and someone is running to the teacher to tell on me. That is ridiculous.
I thought that this site was about giving each other opinions, letting us vent, giving the GOOD and the BAD. This is for the brides, not the vendors. I shouldn’t have to get an email from a vendor anytime I have a negative posting about them.
This has really discouraged me from ever going onto this site again.
OH well. For those individuals on this site that feel the need to rat other brides out to the vendors, please stop. You are not doing us a favor. For those brides that I have come across the past several months who have given an honest opinion, I really appreciate it. Some of your opinions and suggestions have really helped me out a lot.

Are you sure you were ratted on by girls on the site? I am sure anything you said was said in private . . . I am just asking this because there are vendors on this site who may not post, but still lurk to see what people are saying. I am sorry that you had a bad experience on this site . . . It really shouldn't be the way it is at times. I really don't know why some people feel the need to rat on others to vendors . . . everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

i agree that it may not be a bride, because alot of vendors do check what we write, even thought they cant post back on here....an opinion is an opinion, and a vendor cant change that

I totally understand what both of you are saying, however, in both instances the vendors have confirmed to me that the reason why they were approaching me was b/c a bride from the site came to them and let them know I posted something negative about them.

Awww- I'm sorry that happened to you. This site is soley about our OPINIONS- so people need to take them as just that. What's wonderful to me you may hate so everyone needs to check things out for themselves. You're just offering guidance basically =)

I am sorry that that happened to you. The vendors that approached you should loose even more business because of it!! How childish is that?? If you cant take criticisms then you should not be in a service industry!!
There is NO WAY every person will be happy with the product or service provided...thats why we have choices...If a vendor ever approached me...I would be the first one to call them out on it!! If you was bad mouthing a vendor, slandering thier name, thats a different story, but if you had a bad expereince with them...there should be no reason why it cant be said!!
As for the girls that told the vendor....some act like they work for the vendor and that if there is some bad press, there goes their job!! To those girls.....the vendors are grownups and can defend themselves!!!

Kim, I'm sorry this happened to you. I agree with you...if it was another B2B, shame on them. But I do agree with the other girls too. The vendors do come on here and may have seen your post. There is a girl that I talk with regularly with that this happened to....she posted a vent about a vendor and the vendor had the nerve to take the time to FM her that he didn't appreciate the post....yadda, yadda, yadda....He had time to FM her on that but didn't have time to try to make good on her situation. I told her that I would have posted his FM for all to see his true colors, so shame on the vendors who approached you too!

sorry to hear that this happened to you and that this may cause you to leave...do not leave b/c honest opinions are what we brides here need to hear...i hear enough about the vendors themselves on how great they are, so i also need to hear an honest to goodness opinion of other people's reactions/feelings/impressions of these vendors
don't let us pay for mistakes that other brides may have made by 'ratting' you out...besides, the other may be right, it may be the vendor themselves who saw the post and used the 'another bride' excuse to get back at you...maybe you should try and get specifics from these vendors and find out which brides mentioned your negative posts and don't take confidentiality as an excuse coz obviously your opinion was not held in confidence...

Thanks for all of the supporting comments. I agree on both sides. In the end, who knows what could have happened, either the vendor checked himself or someone went to the vendor. I can only go with what the vendor told me and that was that some brides came to him about my posting. I wasn't bad mouthing the vendors, not at all. A brides asked for an opinion regarding a vendor and I let the bride know that I didn't have a good experience with them and if they wanted more details to FM me. I didn't even post what my experience was on the site for everyone to see.
Oh well.
On a side note, the vendor in question here has sent me an additional email apologizing which I greatly appreciated.

I think there should be a general rule that vendors are not allowed to fm you unless you post on the 'Vendors helping brides' board or you fm them. I don't see how he/she fm-ing you about a negative comment 'helps' you plan your wedding in any way.

After I wrote up a review of a reception location I really didn't care for, and it was quite a pointed review of how bad it was, 30 minutes later my phone was ringing. Look on the caller-id, and it's that reception place, strangely enough.
I guess they don't think this is a free country, and we can't say the way we feel. Well too bad, contrary to their opinions, it is a free country and we can say what we like.
Don't be intimidated, simply tell the vendor to f*%# off.

I am sorry that it happened to you. But it might not have been the brides. The vendors can read these boards even if they can't post on them. I know in my case it was a vendor that called my Limo company to tell them that I complained about them. Please don't leave for that reason and please don't assume that it was only the brides on here. I hope that in time you will feel better and come back on here and post.
