How old is/was your 'something old' & if you don't mind sharing, what it is/was it?
Thanks
ETA: Thanks SO much ladies...you pretty much told me what I needed to hear (even though I didn't want to)! Guess I need to add something to my 'ensemble'

Re: TOTALLY dumb question (re: 'something old')
see for my family we always used something old as in something from the past generations.
I wanted to wear something from my grandma - she passed away when my mother was 16 and I am her namesake. Unfortunately, during my grandfather's funeral in Sicily his entire house was robbed and EVERYTHING that was my grandmother's was stolen - even furniture.
The only thing we have left was a pair of underwear that she made and embroidered herself - they were maternity underwear. Well, they are bloomers actually LOL so i will NOT be wearing them BUT we are cutting out the hand embroidery on them and sewing it to the inside of my dress!

well, IMO, something old is MUCH older than 2 years. It originally was to represent continuity among the generations...... meaning, it should be something from your parents, aunts & uncles, grandparents...... and should be 20+ years old (20 years being commonly being defined as 1 generation).. If it isn't that old, it should at least be from the older generation of your family to keep with the intent of the 'something old' symbolism.
I wore my grandmothers engagement ring, which was about 50 years old.......
here's the original intent of the saying:
something old: from past generation of family, symbolizing continuity of the family something new: symbolizing hope for the future something borrowed: symbolizing the unwaivering support of friends and family in times of need something blue: symbolizing purity (think virgin mary) six pence for your shoe: symbolizing good financial luck in the future

I LOVE the bo-k idea...I have my fiance's [deceased] mother's pearls. I was given them to wear the day of, but didn't like the look...maybe I'll wrap them around my bo-k so that I can still incorporate them (they're at least 20+ years old)...If you don't mind my asking, how are you securing it to the bo-k so that you don't loose it?

you can always give it to your florist to attach...my friend (who was also my florist) attached a cross that DH gave me as a wedding day gift to the BQ...she wrapped it around a bit & used pins with crystals to secure it.

40+ Years----I was given a cross to borrow from my Aunt Marie (My mom's sister who passed away at age 12 when she was hit by a car riding her bike- also whom I was named after) that I pinned onto my slip. She was with me all night.
20+ Years---I also wore my mom's bracelet for the night.

I have two something olds that I'll be wearing-the first is a bracelet that was my aunt's (deceased) who I am named after. It's also my something borrowed because it's my Mom's now. And I'll be wearing the ring FH gave me eighteen years ago when we first dated.
