Totally not wedding related..

but I have noticed several of you brides are attorneys or in law school. I have been considering this, but I know it's a huge decision! (I'm just studying for the LSAT) Can anyone offer any advice? Do you love it? Also, what did you get your undergrad degree in?

I have a Bachelors in Public Relations and not sure if this makes a difference or not.

Your undergrad degree doesn't really make a difference, as long as you did reasonably well and you can think logically. Your LSAT score is super important though, good luck!

Where are you thinking of going?

I'm an attorney. My general opinion is that law school in this economy is a bad idea. There are more law grads now than available entry level attorney jobs.
If u go, make sure yoou get accepted to a top 14 law school and avoid the most debt. You should read the messages at JDUnderground.com.

FM me if you want info.

I am in law school and I'm like the worst person to answer this question because I'm so adamant, but if I could go back in time I would NEVER have gone to law school. I should have picked a career more in the human services field. If I pursue an attorney career it will be in public interest but I will never make the kind of money that makes the investment of time and money worth it, in my opinion.

My advice is: only go to law school if you are career driven and REALLY want to be a lawyer. Otherwise you may end up regretting your decision. Just my opinion, it's a personal decision you have to make but realize all the work and time and money and stress that goes into it and make sure it's what you really want. If you decide to go feel free to FM me if you want advice on certain schools.

Not to be a downer, but I agree with the above. I graduated from a top 14 law school in 2007. Got a job at a top law firm in NYC and was laid off back in January - along with tons of others. There are so many of us out there that even the top 14 status isn't helping. I wound up going back to school in September to get my LLM because I freaked out worrying about not having anything on my resume for so long. This means more debt... and the job prospects still aren't looking that great.

Who knows what the economy will be like in 3 years when you would graduate, but definitely only do it if you get into a top school and know it's what you want to do.

Feel free to FM me if you want more info or to discuss anything.

Thank you all for the advice. I am really going to take it heart and do a little more research. I guess it never hurts to continue to study for the LSAT.

I'm living in South Florida now, so the market is a little different. If I do decide to pursue law school I think I will have to relocate.
