totally off topic but romantic getaway question

Does anyone know any places, maybe a B&B to stay at in Western Massachusetts? My husband and I are looking to go during foliage and don't really know the area that well. Any suggestions or ideas are helpful. Thanks all.

I don't know of any specific places to recommend, but check out the Lenox, MA area - it's near Tanglewood and there are several shops, restaurants, and lots of lodging options. Also look into Yankee Magazine's web site. I think they offer 'Leaf-Peeper' information including lodging.

Berkshires

Just about any hotel in Lenox, Lee, Stockbridge, is nice. They`re all close together, and Tanglewood is a short drive away. There`s a lot to do there - Norman Rockwell museum, visit and shop the strip of Stockbridge. You can also go to Jiminy Peak (I`m not sure if they were recently bought about by another ski slope) and do sledding down the tracks. And there`s a brand new outlet mall right in Lee, which has a ton of stores. As for actual hotels, there`s Red Lion Inn, but I`m sure that`s expensive. My Aunt and Uncle have a house in Lee, so I don`t know too many hotels! I have stayed in a B&B in Lee, that`s actually a converted school house. I don`t have the info handy, but if you want, and I can get back to you with it.

Thanks for all the info. I would love the name of that B&B if you come across it.

Elizabeth - I have the info!

The B&B we stayed in last year was The Chambrey Inn, on Main St in Lee, MA. If you do call, try and request a suite, towards the front of the building. We stayed in the back, and there`s a fire house right next door - it`s such a small town, but the alarm did go off! Here`s the website for that hotel, and another: http://www.berkshireinns.com/ Another website for more detailed info on the town of Lee: http://www.leechamber.org/ Another B&B that supposed to be fantastic, but pricey, is: devonfield.com, and AppleGate (not sure of website) I`ve also heard Ashley Inn, Merrell Inn, and Federal House are nice B&B`s, although I haven`t been to them. Keep in mind that the Fall is a popular time of year in New England, so the prices might be high. It should be well worth it though - the whole area is so quaint and beautiful! Enjoy and keep me posted!
