And worried. We signed with the Bourne finally almost 2 weeks ago, have almost all the vendors decided and we find out today my mom in law has a lump in her breast. Now this runs in his family, big time and she already had one breast removed 7 years ago. I am so upset and worried and my FH is a wreck!!!! I do not want to think the worst but should I call the hall and ask about what happens if we need to postpone? Both his grandmother and aunt have had this----one has since passed since it spread to her lymph system. Pls ladies ---is it too morbid to start thinking like this???

She survived it once, she's survive it again. It seems like she caught it in the early stages. I hope she'll be fine. You can call the hall if it makes you feel better, but you really just have to hope your mom will be ok. I really think she will

First off my prayers are with your FMIL and your family
I think that you should wait it out and see what happens, you still have plenty of time. I'm sure that they will work with you.
I hope everything works out for you and your family. So sorry, stay strong!

Oh my, I am so sorry you are faced with this difficulty. My heart goes out to your FMIL, you, your fiance and your families.
I think you should ask the manager of their policy just to be aware of it but I think it is too early to think about postponing your nuptials. As a future nurse we have been taught to never, never give up hope. Faith and love are amazing, inexplicable powers and I hope that your FMIL wants to be a part of the planning of her son's wedding and enjoy this time with you as you prepare to become her son's wife.
You will be in my prayers. God Bless.

I am near tears reading all your posts--I cannot even tell you how strong it make me feel to have somewhere to talk. If I even told my Fh I was even thinking of postponing, he would just totally be more upset. We have looked forward and planned so much with all our familys input--my FMIL is like my mom to me --even more so I can tell her things like a friend.

You can talk to us any time. That's why the baords are great, you cna just kind of sound off or bounce ideas and thoughts and fears off people who aren't involved, BEFORE you bring it to your FH or family. Just keep your chin up, and keep your FMIL's chin up too, keep smiling and keep planning the wedding. I really think that prayer and positive thinking can overcome illness.

I totally agree. These days, breast cancer is usually found in its earliest stages and since your mom is already a survivor, she probably has been checked more often than usual- which means, its probably very early. I will pray for you and your mom, because no one should ever have to go through this ordeal. Although I truly believe she will be fine in the end, I can't imagine what you are going to go through for the next few months.
That said, I think you should call the hall, just to find out. There is absolutely no harm in this. It's not morbid at all to think about this, in fact it is very mature.

There's nothing wrong with knowing your options. Call the hall and get info on postponements, moving up the date, etc etc. Her potential illness doesn't necessarily mean the worst, but it could mean scheduling changes and that's not morbid to consider.
Good luck and she will be in our prayers!

Re: Totally sad and confused...
I wanted to let you that I know exactly how you feel. Personally if I were you I would call just to see what they say - tell them you just want to know the policy. Unfortunately, I went through the same thing about 2 or 3 weeks after we had gotten engaged, my mother had found a lump, had it removed and we found out it was cancerous. Fortunately, it ended up not being advanced and that she just needs to be monitored every couple of months. Then last week FI mother's went for her 6 month check up (she had breast cancer about 6 years ago and has been in remission) and they found another lump. So she has been going through all the tests and are waiting for the results. Keep us posted on what is going on - and always remember we are always here.

I would ask your hall their policy on postponements and I would also look into wedding insurance. That will cover your a$$ in a bunch of ways. It's not too expensive in the grand scheme of things. Good luck, I hope your FMIL has a full recovery!
