Towers of Light

Towers of Light

At first thought it was the moon, but then we realized it was the towers of light. I'm glad I live where I can see them. I can see them really clearly b/c it's such a clear night. It's...wow. It's weird being in here and kknowing they're out my window. It just struck me how close I live to teh WTC. I mean, I went to school a few blocks from there for 4 years, but it was a 45 min train ride. Really it's only 9 miles. I don't know. it's weird. Just thought I'd share. Can anyone else see them from your house?

I can see them from where I am...

Its amazing...I used to be able to see the towers too..when they were burning we could actually see fire!

I could see them once I got on the train from my house b/c it was high. It just hit me how close all of that happenned to my house. I always thought of how close it had been to my school. And how traumatic to see kids I knew and my teachers running from the building. And for weeks to see my school used as a command center. Very odd

I used to be able to see them from where I used to live. Now I moved and don't get the same view>

We can go on our roof and see them. We live on 181 near the GWB. It is nice, but kinda haunting.

Does anyone know what time they're getting turned off???

I looked out this evening from a high vantage point, close to the city, and was surprised that I couldn't see the lights .. so I just figured maybe they hadn't been turned on yet .. the sun was just going down .. it was a beautiful sunset .. gorgeous colors in the sky .. but as it continued to get darker .. I couldn't see the lights .. this was between 7:30-7:45.

I was hoping to give it one more try sometime tonight .. but just don't know how late they're going to keep the lights lit.

they're keeping them lit until sunrise tomorrow (sunday)

I went out downtown tonight and I was able to see it right from there, I didnt even know that they were going to be lit again this year. I couldnt take my eyes off of them, it would be nice to have them lit all the time.

I was able to see the lights all the way out in suffolk on the LIE. DH and I were driving home at about midnight from Selden and I saw lights in the sky. At first I thought they were spotlights from a new place, but as we got closer and they became darker and more visible, we realized what the lights were!!

I was out last night and talking to a friend who drove down from Albany in the evening and said as he was passing Kingston NY (which is north of Poughkeepsie so it's pretty far up) he could see the lights. That's amazing. We could also see them in Woodlawn.

we were out in Farmingdale last night and DH thought it was the moon. ANd i said 'Isn't the city over there? could it be the towers of light?' so we went home, got our camera and went to Brooklyn (where that ice cream place is, and a lot of people take wedding pics... by the bridge) and hung out for awhile. I had only seen them while driving by in a car. It really was amazing to see them from Brooklyn. They look so pretty in pictures too.

(the moths or bugs or birds in the light looked very eerie)
