Anyone know what the maintenance fees are for a town house?

Re: Townhouses
That can really vary. I am not sure if the property taxes are included in your 'maintenance' for a townhouse.
If the property taxes aren't included... ive seen them charge anywhere from $200-400.
So in that case... you would pay your mortgage, your quarterly property taxes, and your monthly maintenance... but with a townhouse... its commonly known as 'the common charge'.
But dont take my word for sure on this one.

Re: Townhouses
For a condo the taxes are not in your common charge but for a co-op they are. The common charges vary based on the development and may have nothing to do with the amount/kind of amenities offered, amount of common space/land, services included (i.e. snow removal, landscaping, etc.). In my experience (and that is only my experience) most developments on the south shore of Nassau are below $300, usually around $200 and on the north shore of Nassau the charges are higher.

Our common charge is $300 and it doesn't include the property taxes. I'm pretty sure that for condos and townhomes you pay the property tax separate.

Re: Townhouses
My maintenance fee for a townhouse is $150. This does not include house taxes, utilities..etc. Co-op fees are handled differently from a townhouse/condo. The monthly fee includes, everything including taxes and utilities.
From my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong. When you buy a townhouse/condo you actually own inside the walls of your home and you can write off your mortgage's interest on your taxes. Where as a co-op, everything is shared and you can't claim it on your taxes.
Hope this helps

Re: Townhouses
You do own the physical structure (walls) with a condo... but with a co-op you can claim your mortgage interest for your taxes... as well as your percentage of the co-ops mortgage interest.

oops..thanks for correcting me in regards to the taxes. I guess I had gotten the wrong information on co-ops.
