Co-ops are different than condos but townhouses can be either a condo or a co-op. There are some great books on the market that talk about buying one! I prefer condos.

Co-ops you own shares in the corporation. Monthly fees are generally higher than condos, but include taxes and maintenance, and usually heat...Condo monthly charges only include maintenance--pay your own taxes and heat, etc. I prefer condos.
