Now that we're considering wine favors, Trader Joe's offers inexpensive full bottles of wine for around $3 a bottle. From what I've heard so far, they're really good and we tried a few this past weekend. I really liked the Shiraz and the Sauvignon Blanc but I would like to know if anyone has tried these wines as well and could give me some feedback. I need to decide which wines to purchase. A red and a white so at least guests can have a choice.

I think thats a great idea. I'd do just one red or white, so people don't get picky about which one they got... thats just me. I think wine bottles are such a great favor idea.

I lived up the block from a Trader Joes and went there very often. Love that place.
As for Charles Shaw - Its not great but if your guests are not sommeliers, you should be alright. The best varietals are the Shiraz, the Chardonnay & the Merlot. The Cabernet is not as good.

it's 3 bucks now? it went up! my friend and i used to call it 2 buck chuck. we loved it! we drank the red - we like sweet wines

I was told that it is $2.99 in NYC and $1.99 in NJ.

the chardonnay is pretty good, I wasn't a big fan of the cabernet.
For the reds, I'd probably go with the Merlot.
You should also check out some regular wine stores or vineyards - you might be able to get better bottles for $4 than you will get from TJ's.
We decided to go with Osprey's (a vineyard out east) Chardonnay for our wine. We got a great deal, and I think the wine is pretty decent quality.
