I'm sorry I have to say this. I can't stand Hildy.
She's putting up corrugated cardboard on walls in a bedroom. WITH NAIL GLUE.
First off, can she be more cheezy? IT'S CARDBOARD. I mean yes be frugal but come on.
And nail glue? The people were saying 'how would you get that off' (because no one in their right mind would want to have that sh*t on their walls) and Hildy says 'well why do you want to know - we are not interested in how to take it down, just how to put it up'. Granted yes but hello....it's CARDBOARD.
I think I would cry.
This is why I would never be on this show. Because it seems like all they use now are the designers that ruin rooms (for ratings). That is what the show should be called 'Designers that ruin rooms for ratings'.
At least the show's saving grace is that Frank is the other designer.
Had to share.

I didn't see this episode but I always hate what she does. I also can't stand her.

I didn't like the cardboard either, but they did get a beautiful bed from Ty. At least that's something.

I personally did not like the bed, but yes he did go out of his way to make it and his craftmanship is very very good. Even my FH who works as a carpenter said that Ty is very good at what he does.

Has anyone ever noticed how Laurie never does any 'hard' labor? The most you see her do is hold a paint brush, screw something, or sew.
I think Vern is the best designer on the show. I have never been disappointed with his stuff.
I have thought about how fun it would be to be on the show, but won't do it unless we could gaurantee that Hildy is not on the show.

Hmm never really noticed.
I like the way Paige always says she is 'helping', but essentially just cracking the whip.

She's a Southern Belle.
Actually, I've seen her put some elbow grease into some projects. Wasn't it Laurie that did the paper mache bust of that guy on a show - redoing a dining room (which I liked)? I've seen her move stuff around too so I can't really say she doesn't do anything. Maybe it is the way it's edited. I know she didn't do much when she was pregnant but I cannot blame her.

Re: Trading Spaces that is on now
Most interior designers (that I have dealt with at work) in real life would never pick up a paint brush so that they do work is part of the gig.

Marcella, all I can say it don't ever light a candle in that room!
At least it was better than the garden room from hell. The comforter looked like a bed of flowers you put on a grave! Hildy didn't do that room, another lady did. And the people LIKED IT. Whatever!

Kia (the black lady) did the room with the graveyard blanket.
I wouln't want her to do my room either!

Re: Trading Spaces that is on now
What I hate is when the couple assisting in the redesign of their friend's space try to stand up for what they know the couple would not want .. and the designer goes against it anyway.
Not a fan of Doug, either .. I've seen too many times where the friends have said 'no way' but he goes against it. That's just not cool.
I remember one episode, where the homeowner wife said she did not want them doing a thing to the fireplace .. and Doug absolutely insisted to the friends and Paige that he had to make his changes to the fireplace for the room to work .. the friends made a huge fuss .. a huge fuss .. and luckily they just built something in front of the fire place that could be removed .. but when the homeowners came in .. the wife was so angry .. and I think may have even cried!! And said she would be taking out the piece to return the fireplace back to original .. that to me was a waste of everyone's time and energy, not to mention money out of the budget .. all because of Doug's ego.
There was another time when he insisted a black line be painted along the edge of someone's hardwood floors. His compromise was one line, instead of the originally intended two. Friends said 'no way' .. Doug did it his way .. and the homeowner wasn't happy with it, but said something like, 'guess I'll have to live with it for a while.'

That episode when the lady cried was hilarious! She walked away from cameras and next thing you know you hear her ballin' in the background.
LMAO funny!!

I felt sorry for her .. cuz I know I'd be pretty upset if someone came in and messed with something I insisted should be left alone.

Re: Trading Spaces that is on now
But you can't go into trading spaces insisting on anything. They were on the TS went wrong special and they pretty much returned the room to the way it was before Doug got his hands on it.
It all comes down to entertainment - Hildi is on the show a lot because she does crazy things that most people won't want done to their rooms and the reveal has a strong negative reaction.
It's a shame the show used to give some useful inexpensive tips to home owners to decorate their house on a small budget. Now it seems to be about shock value and drama in the reveals.
