I loved my MU trial but my artist mostly does traditional. She told me airbrush looks nice for media (video, print etc.) but too much in person.
Would love to know what you ladies think

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
I had my makeup airbrushed for my wedding and for a few others. SHe just airbrushes the foundation part, and hand applies the rest. Although I definitely felt, and looked like, I was weraing more makeup than normal (i usually just wear powder, no foundation) it looked fabulous in person. Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
ive done both a couple of times. For me personally, i like how airbrush looks better on me. Your MU artist said it looks better for tv, magazines and all that, but they use different type of airbrush in the media, there are 3 different type of airbrush foundations. One is water based which is what they should use for a wedding and doesnt look like too much at all in person. 2nd is oil based which they use for magazines and stuff like that, you should NOT use this for your wedding and 3rd has even more oil and even heavier, its to get a real glossy look in pics and again should not be used for a wedding.
On my face airbrush looks better and holds up better. For my wedding i did airbrush and it stayed on perfectly, i didnt have to reapply at all that night and even the next day it was on. Other times ive done it, same thing it stayed on perfect
this past weekend i was a bm in a friends wedding. I did regular make up, i was gonna do airbrush but the girl had everything already set up and forgot to say from ahead of time i wanted airbrush so i just went with the regular. The make up came out nice dont get me wrong and LOOOVE how she did my eyes. But my face i can see the difference from when i have airbrush. Especially after i saw all the other girls and MOH and bride had airbrush, it just had such a different look to it, you can see this smoother look. On me i felt the regular make up showed my pores alot more and under my eyes the lines looked bad i thought, and even when i do my own make up or have no make up i dont see the lines like that, but the regular make up is so caked on that it can give that look. Plus their airbrush make up held up better than my regular make up. And i compared it to when i did get airbrush and felt it held up better throughout the night.

Thanks for this info! I will ask my MU artist if I can do a trial with water based airbrush MU. Hopefully she can do it. I loved my trial but I thought the makeup enhanced the lines under my eyes too! The pics looked great but I didn't appreciate the lines under my eyes in person. I was going to try a different foundation, we used MAC initially, but maybe airbrush makeup is the way to go!

Interesting, i thought maybe i was the only person this happened to but yeah i couldnt stand to look at the lines underneath my eyes. And like i said its weird bc when i do my own make up it doesnt look like that. I felt it made me look old ya know.
Are you sure she even does airbrush? some MU artists dont really work with it so not too familiar with it. Maybe thats why she didnt want to try, i would ask her if she has done airbrush before. If she has say you just want to test it out and decide for yourself.
Good luck

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
yep, thats one of the reasons why I loved it (airbrush), it didn't go into the little lines under my eyes the way regular makeup does.
I think mine used water based too, I asked her if I needed something special to wash it off, she said only the mascara because its not water based. So I guess the rest was.

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
This is really interesting to read. The last wedding I was in I did my own makeup and I really like the pictures. My cousin's wedding i had it done (regular, NOT airbrushed) and when I look at pictures I have what looks like a million wrinkles! I feel like I made a little discovery today - that I was not the only one!
I am thinking maybe it is because the makeup they put on is drier than the makeup I use.

might be because of that. Also when i do my own make up i dont put layers of different foundations on ya know. They put on the concealer, then another thing which i dont even know what lol and even more on top of that, so maybe thats why. I am curious as to why this happens too.

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
i'm so glad you posted this. I have been going back and forth about this in my mind for a while. I don't usually wear makeup on a day to day basis but I don't think it is an area that I should skimp on one of the biggest days of my life! i'm definitely going the airbrush route now, thanks!

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
I've actually been trying to figure out what i'd like to do. I get nervous to do airbrush only because I feel like it'll definitely hide the little bit of freckles on my face, and i LOVE my freckles. lol. But it might be worth it for one day to have that perfect airbrushed look

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
I agree the airbrush is great. The foundation is done in airbrush and it comes out so smooth. I like it's durability also. I didn't have to touch up my make-up all night just my lipstick

Re: Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?
I thought I was going to want and need the airbrush but I had it done in a trial and it seemed like too much makeup on my face. I did the traditional and it was alot less and you can actually see my skin.
FH said with the airbrush it looked like I had a mask on while with the trad. it was more natural. I dont know. Right now I am going with the traditional and then next year I might try the airbrush with my H&M person.

Forgot to ask:
will airbrush rub onto FH's clothes if I rest my face on him?
