Traditional MU vs. Airbrush?

Original post by Djenki2

Which did u prefer?

I loved my MU trial but my artist mostly does traditional. She told me airbrush looks nice for media (video, print etc.) but too much in person.

Would love to know what you ladies think

FH said with the airbrush it looked like I had a mask on while with the trad. it was more natural. I dont know. Right now I am going with the traditional and then next year I might try the airbrush with my H&M person.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of also. My FH always hates it when he sees girls with way too much 'crap on their face'. lol. So I definitely don't wanna be over-done for him. I've never been airbrushed before, so I have no idea how it even looks. I guess that's why we have trials, huh!

I was debating on this too but my friend who is a mu artist told me that yes, airbrushing does look gorg for the pics and stuff, but for an all day affair, its no good. You dont look natural - depending on how good the mu artist is, you can look like you were literally airbrushed... and regardless of which type you use, if you sweat, it beads up on your face.....the sweat and the mu. but check both out and see which you like....

i dont know about that, i was out in the sun taking pics for over 2 hours on my wedding day and it didnt bead up on my face at all. It stayed perfect. I took pics as a bm this past friday with regular and my make up got messed up bc of being out sweating, the regular make up can come off easier

i am going to use traditional makeup, just because i have heard that the airbrush looks un-natural, but hey to each his own!

i like airbrush the best, i NEVER wear face make up ever and i happen to think that the airbrush looks the best on me....

ive had both types of foundation (regular and aribrush) come off on clothes - like if i were to rub my face on FH's white shirt during the wedding the make up would def rub off - but i dont rub my face on clothes or anything so im not worried about that....that happens if i wear bronzer or powder also - so it might just be my skin - i have NEVER worn makeup that didnt rub off if i wiped my face

This is really interesting to read. The last wedding I was in I did my own makeup and I really like the pictures.
My cousin's wedding i had it done (regular, NOT airbrushed) and when I look at pictures I have what looks like a million wrinkles! I feel like I made a little discovery today - that I was not the only one!

I am thinking maybe it is because the makeup they put on is drier than the makeup I use.

might be because of that. Also when i do my own make up i dont put layers of different foundations on ya know. They put on the concealer, then another thing which i dont even know what lol and even more on top of that, so maybe thats why. I am curious as to why this happens too.

I think you're right about the layers! I don't know about u but i use my hands for liquid foundation. When I had my trial she used a brush to apply 50 million different layers. That brush packs a lot of product.

Also, my artist used MAC and I normally use Clinique Foundation, which is much lighter!

I figure, if I'm spending 50 million dollars on photography and videography, my makeup needs to be flawless
